Ram Madhav says in the article that Afghans loved Ghani's government.. This is false.. Ghani was out of touch and corrupt.. But, ultimately it does not matter what the Afghans want. It is the outside powers that decide who gains or loses power in Afghanistan..
Also, I don't share his hope for the Panjshir Valley. In a few days, we might see Amrullah packing his bags from Panjshir.. He seems pretty downbeat in his latest tweet

Taliban are regrouping after the setbacks and taliban from other provinces are arriving to Panjshir.

NRF has the support of its traditional strong holds which are Tajik and Uzbek ethnic majority regions. If the NRF can hold the Panjshir (I think they can) for 1 more month. Winter sets in and they will have time to gather resources and ammunition.

Latest news is that Pakistani special forces are also involved on the taliban side who received repeated setbacks by the Panjshir resistance.

The question is .. What does India want..

1. Does it want influence in Afghanistan on the back of Northern alliance.. ?
This has worked for a good amount of time.But, this alienates the Pashtuns..

2. Does India want to destabilize and ultimately break up Pakistan.. more?
If India wants this, then there is no other way than betting on the Pashtuns, a majoriry of whom live on the Pakistani side of the Durand Line.. But, having more influence on the Pashtuns, than Pakistan is almost impossible.. And since Gilgit is not with India, we also do not share a border with Pashtuns, which makes influencing Pashtuns to the detriment of Pakistan, so much more difficult..

Close to 1 Lakh people live in Panjshir, they grow their own crops and self sustain themselves for months. Tajiks can air supply then the essentials if needed. Winter provides them the opportunity if they are short of supplies.
