More targets most likely, shooting down a plane or even destroying it on the ground, preferably right on the runway so that it becomes unusable would be the the most desired outcome for whoever has planned this attack.

It is don't think this was not expected by foreign intelligence agencies everyone knew the storm is coming that's why the crazy evacuation plans but then the amount of people to be airlifted also very high and caused chaos .

There was warning report from US for its citizens just released last night and also today British minister on sky new was saying they are expecting attacks as early as today so they don't want british citizens to visit kabul airport

This interview came just 4 hours before the 1st bomb blast

It seems the attacks are planned and organized at a huge scale.

Yup. All options are open for the Mujahideen while the only thing running through most foreign troops is to get home alive and in one piece.

If they are not careful, there might be a hostage situation too. What a brilliant move by US to think giving away the city to the enemy and pouring troops into the airport will guarantee their safety.

Serves them right. Sadly the decision makers are safe in America while the foot soldiers die in America's honor. Disgraceful.

Tragic as this incident is, the American War Hawks are ringing the bells all over again. "For every American killed, a city in Afghanistan should be wiped off the face of the Earth."

Meanwhile, Emirati Media, Al-Arabiya on twitter says — "News sources reported two new explosions around Kabul".

Yeah there were a couple of others like Ralph Peters and etc on Fox, I think this pretty much sums it up:

- PAKISTAN: FRIEND OR FOE IN THE FIGHT AGAINST TERRORISM?

Basically the geographical location for long term geopolitics and supply lines meant US has more to lose than Pak if US punishes Pak. Unless US wants to wage total war and claim the area by force, but that's also 10x harder than wiping out the Taliban.

Actually, that is wrong. It is easier to claim and retain territory from Pakistan than dealing with Talibans.

Pakistani army might sound strong on paper, but it is headed by group of greedy bureaucrats. They would scoot in first sign of trouble. In fact, given Pakistan has more visible military assets, for a military like USA, it would be easier to destroy Pakistan's war fighting ability than it is for to search and destroy the spread out Talibs. Also, Pakistan has enormous fault lines which are kept under control by iron fist of army. Once Pak army gets liquidated, all hell will break lose where Pakistan as en entity would cease to exist.

Further, Pakistan resistance, if any happens, wont have any supply line or support system beyond the borders like Pakistan was for Talibs. So, if Rawalpindi gives in, most of resistance would be gone.

Even during war on terror fiasco, had US been more forceful from the beginning with Pakistan, the Talibs would have been finished off by now.

But, western deep state - for whatever reason likes Pak army and ISI.
