Many one liners still being posted. I will delete them from now onwards.

Let us see things from Russian perspective.

Putin has no game. Russians are just enjoying the show.

Putin has made its southern and western borders strong by annexing Crimea and by creating confusion within east European countries including Germany etc.

On Eastern borders he has made a strong alliance with China and has been able to keep India and Pakistan at balance via SCO and has gradually started selling its weapons to both whilst India was already buying them.

With its military expedition in Syria and more active involvement in war zones also being areas of American interests Russia has made its presence palpable after a long lull.

Russia is sending clear message to the world that since Iraq only one nation that is America which is disturbing peace and tranquillity on this planet under various shoddy pretexts.

What should be our strategy? There is complex layering with pak and chin involved in Afghanistan.
First protect interests and ensure security of country...next take advantage of the current situation. So what could come out right for India that could help achieve both these objectives?

Let me make a very strong statement which may contradict my previous comments but I am simply reading GOI manual here.

Afghanistan and Pakistan are not connected to our national interests. Strategically they do not exists for us. Pakistan has been slapped so badly that now they openly say that we will first focus on our economy and then try to engage given if there is change in political guard in India.

Kashmir is monkey trap that will make sure they do not prosper but remain a paranoid security state.

Current government has decoupled these rats after giving them quite a long rope including our PM visited them in-person and allowed them to do so called investigation inside one of our key Air base.

We have few back channel links but they are mostly for VIP security and deliberate leaks if their spies are caught crossing certain lines or sniffing something which they shouldn’t.

The ceasefire we have extended after their request has many clues how we already knew what Americans and Taliban negotiated in UAE. It works for us as well and there is nothing to lose our sleep over it because we know their address.

Taliban is phenomenon which our policy makers think is beyond their controls or they simply do not want to handle it. We know Taliban will be contained within Afghanistan boundaries for a very long run and they will extend their borders back into Pakistan and render those areas poor in every HDI marker that will further become a net loss to whatever Pakistan earns.

Last but not least India has deep pockets to play rogue regional games but we have no desire to let foreign powers patronise or get an excuse to interfere.

Our game is in to lead by example and create and moral paradigm which will eventually make us a regional power that can anchor the whole region. Pakistanis understand it that is why they play indifferent or crib on our achievements and Pimp China into the region to replace us.

Now coming back to China we have quite good assessment of our level and we are marching with a good speed to cover the gap. Till then we are going to restraint and keep playing this game of diminishing returns by allowing them poach whatever they can. Our strategic relationship with any nation have to pass the test of trade viability and mutual respect. We won’t feed the blackmailing dogs and create unsustainable military alliances with anyone.

This video is from 2013, and it's not that off the mark the time. But, considering that you want to pointificate about other's assessments, or their inaccuracies, here's yours from August 5th, ten days before the Taliban takeover.

So, what's Putin's game now... Really 10 D chess here .. :megusta:
My personal believe based on observation is that Russian FM Lavrov and senior Russian diplomats support engagement with Taliban but Russian defence minister Shoigu, Generals and intelligence chiefs are apprehensive about Taliban's intentions.
Putin himself is taking the middle path.

Hindu Hridiya Samrat Putri turned Begum Haidri quoting someone who described the ordeals of ANA and why they lost.

Suhasini Haidar
@suhasinih

"The US contractors took proprietary software and weapons systems with them, removed our helicopter missile-defense system. Access to software that we relied on to track our vehicles, weapons and personnel disappeared. Real-time intelligence on targets went out the window, too."

Mujib Mashal

A first view on the collapse from inside the Afghan military, by Gen. Sami Sadat: “We were betrayed by politics and presidents.” https://nytimes.com/2021/08/25/opinion/afghanistan-taliban-army.html?smid=tw-share
……………….

This is what I wrote when details were not available or these accounts were not out.

Ironically, the fall of ANA can also be attributed to same inter-connectivity which Americans snapped abruptly.

Anyone remembers those Blackwater bastards? Well, they never miss a chance to make money off of other people's misery.

Erik Prince, the founder of the Blackwater PMC, has seen an opportunity again, this time in Afghanistan. He said that the planes he has chartered are ready to evacuate anyone from Kabul for six and a half thousand dollars.

I can always abuse both. Both are worthy of it. And I'm guessing you don't really know the history of Blackwater, they're not as innocent as you seem to think they are.

India should never recognise taliban even if it's the last remaining country in the world. The only other nation whose interest have been jeopardized other than Afghanistan is India. It was kept out of the group of stakeholders by the Russians and for the same reason. We must as a nation take definate stand rather than do backdoor support and hope things workout in favor of the resistance. Other wise we will be considered only a laughing stock as a country which is not to be feared or taken seriously. As it never ever acts. Afghans were our allies. ISI has given us a massive hit. Make no mistake. The chances of opening a second front with Pakistan on its western border are gone till Talibs are there. Apart from billions of dollars that have gone down in drain our strategic depth and assets have also been rendered useless. We don't need to send military. Whenever every Indian is evacuvated, Whatever assets we still have can be used to strike and take out taliban leadership with missiles. It would send strong message to China and Pak. Taliban and mujhadins will be coming to Kashmir anyway. Let's take the fight to them and try to salavage whatever of our allies are left. We can't and should not be defensive.. If India wants to recognised as a super power we should start acting like one.
