flip side of the argument, this imposition of higher standards from the very beginning on one party in Afghanistan while the other party (Taliban) having no such limitations has enabled the Taliban to regain power in Afghanistan. Not a good idea. If NA starts behaving like Taliban outside countries may meet internal resistance to supporting NA. In my opinion it is better if Taliban are seen as a bunch of murderous savages and NA in contrast are seen as the good guys.
This is the story of “war on terror” in general all over the world, governments are being told to be mindful of “human rights violations” while terrorists are taking full advantage of these self imposed limitations, there by allowing the threat of terrorism to prolong for decades.
And on the other hand, pseudo democracies can get away with things like this in the name of war on terror. This pic from Pakistan’s Zara e azb, paki army used F-16 & tanks against their own citizens. There was not even a slap on the wrist from defenders of “human rights”.
