Like it or not, Pakistan has most of the cards in its hand. As of right now, they are hosting Ahmed Shah Masood's clan for discussions. Last week, they hosted Karzai and Abdullah. Big shame that India was kicked out of the process by non others but ๐Ÿ‡ท๐Ÿ‡บ ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ ๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡ท
The coming week is going to be very important.
Still, porkis will squandrler it. We are looking through a very narrow lens here IMO.

IMO, Pakistan should start to feel the heat shortly on its western border... Its about when!!!!!

Taliban will look for legitimacy going via their statements so far but will they get it????. On top, old habits die hard... Already reports r flowing in of people covering girls posters in kabul malls... And girls being denied university entry... Fav subject of USA... and western liberal gang

I suspect... More over whole US public opinion is again Joe et all at the moment... Thats another angle... Moreover US will never allow monkeys & Russians with porkis to rule the roost.. Porkis r dreaming cpec with monkeys but Afghanistan is war lord territory... Do we think US will let the show go on to suit monkeys and ruskies... No way....

First we need to see if talibans internal factions patch up and live peacefully with each other!!!!!

IMO, we shud take pop corns and sit to enjoy the show. It's going to be a interesting one..

We were always going to be forced out as Pak is a bigger player there than India due to Taliban influence.

We should make a deal with the Taliban to launch a double attack on Pakistan. In exchange they can keep the pashtun lands east of the Durand Line.

I agree that Pak biggest nightmare is going to be the Durand line when it's legitimacy is challenged

India must not sell its recognition for cheap.
If we are good in negotiations then following points must be put on paper.

1. No interference in Kashmir.
2. Indian assets monitoring Pakistan must be protected.
3. Pakistan will not be allowed to use any Afghan territory against India or Indian interests in Afghanistan.
4. Continuation of old trade deals and contracts.
5. Intel sharing and joint task force if any on ground operations required in Afghanistan.

This may appear to few doubting Thomases a difficult proposal and hard to enforce but first step always is to go upfront and no nonsense.

If Afghanistan had mattered to us we had gone into the mess and helped them (which I always wanted). Therefore anyone now taking over it makes no much difference to us. We must not be in a hurry to dole out recognitions.

What if they don't agree to these conditions, and India doesn't recognise Taliban government. How does it affect them?

what investment?
Barring the goodwill infrastructure like their parliament, dams, hospitals, etc we have had assets to keep an eye on Pakistan for years.

This "route to Central asia" thing is a red herring. Global trade happens via sea. Land route is not cost effective. We needed logistics to support the Afghan government and not for some brilliant "route to Central asia". China is investing in BRI to export it's excess manufacturing capacity and also get alternate trade routes which are not dominated by USA.

Afghanistan was important for the "Great Game" because it was a buffer to keep USSR/Russia away from Arabian sea ports. Now it's mostly useless. No strategic value. The "zillion dollars of minerals" is BS too.
With Central Asia being largely land locked, how do you reach there by sea. And with investment in Chabbahar, what else route can India take to reach Central Asia?
