Discuss implications, will Finland be invaded?

After ukrainian disaster...i dont think he will have enough firepower to invade finland..russia will need 5 years to get back to former strength

IMO Ruskis are isolated and finished for all practical purposes. The economic and human losses will take decades to recoup. They are nowhere in terms of human resources or hardware tech that the Soviet Union had. Soviet Union for all its faults had a spine! WW2 was a showdown between Germany and Soviet Union with everything else being a sideshow. It was the Soviets who stopped Germany and turned the tide of the war. Russia the inheritor of Soviet legacy is not even a pale shadow of its former past. They have been found wanting in everything - morale, quality of training, weapons tech. At best they are a third rate nuke power and CCP's lackey! At the moment, they are truly clueless on how to proceed with the Ukraine war. Heck, Zelenskiy, the Kejriwal of Ukraine, stands a chance of getting back Crimea! Ukraine has done a huge favor to the West!

The underlying fear is that bulk of Indian hardware in IAF/IA/IN is of Ruski origin and is probably crap. Nothing can convince me that we can operate them better than Ruskis themselves.

Need indigenous arms industry ASAP, Western stuff (other than France) comes with submission requirement.

imao, finnish ppl will be likely stronger than ukraine minus foreign assistance, finland has better funds than ukraine and well, finnish people have resisted russian aggresion since forever
Heck even the duffers in Pak may entertain a chance against the current bunch of Ruskis. Poland/Sweden/Finland will probably take the fight into mainland Russia.

Nah no one will actually take the fight to mainland Russia, nukes will be launched in that case. Russia still has ICBMs.

Nukes are the only saving grace, but that will in all likelihood lead to MAD and no one will be around to tell the story of what happened! Its ironic that the situation is completely flipped now. Not too long ago Soviets had a decisive advantage in conventional war and the only way NATO would stop the Red Army from pushing them into the Atlantic was through nukes. NATO probably didnt even dream of pushing Ruskis back into their Rodina!

Unfortunately that wouldn’t just be NATO and Russia, the whole world would be over at that point, China will launch and so will India and Pak.

I think this is just posturing though. It's possible that Finland will be invaded but unlikely.

Wester Hegemony can't be beaten by force. The Chinese are honestly doing much better than the Russians by using economic warfare. Flooding western nations with low IQ third world immigrants to destroy them from within is a better strategy. Even the center-left neoliberal world order will be overrun by leftists and cultural marxists eventually.

I hope that doesn't happen though, it would be a shame to see the west dragged down to the lowest level.

Till the dollar remains global currency, Biden will print more out of thin air and fatten the arms contractors to flood Finland, Sweden etc with weapons.
I think Putin is losing his patience though, tactical nukes may come into play.

Unlikely. Using any form of nukes for such a small conflict (inflated by the NATO rona dhona) will only isolate Russia more. It would be extremely hard for us and China to even tacitly support him that we are doing now. Based on the troop movements, Russia is redirecting its forces for PLAN B; capture entire South & East of Ukraine and turn the Galicia region into a land-locked shadow country where Ukrainian neo-Nazis and other Galicians such as Poles, Moldovans, Hungarians, etc., keep fighting between each other and bog NATO's resources.

Making Ukraine landlocked is in Russia's interest, as the entire Black Sea now becomes a dominion of Kremlin (along with Turkey). Contrary to what NATO liberals are claiming, they cannot completely shut off Russia as it would be in control of all the popular wheat-growing areas. While we have managed to plug the gap of export shortfall this year, but we are not a perennial solution. 90% of what we grow in terms of wheat is consumed and strategically stored for use within India, much like China's industrialized farming sector.
Russia will therefore become indispensable for the food security of European countries. They can't simply expect the entire world to divert their supply chains from existing markets to them alone.

Coming back to Sweden and Finland, a more practical move for Putin would be to reach out to Sweden and Finland and give them written guarantees (in secret) that he'd not touch them if they don't join NATO. Threats won't always work especially when so many countries are trying to band together. If he can assure Finns and Swedes secretly, that would take some pressure off Russia.

Agreed on end-goal in Ukraine being landlocked. And yeah you can't just throw tantrums with nukes.

As for quietly reassuring Sweden and Finland I'm not sure he's going to do that, that shows weakness.

Looks like Finland will announce it’s application on May 12th. Russia tried a low-key threat of violating finnish air space once in April and again on May 4th but that was about it.
