Sushma Swaraj's Beijing visit 'important': China - The Times of India
China on Wednesday said it attaches "great importance" to external affairs minister Sushma Swaraj's visit here this week, during which she will interact with top Chinese leaders and attend the 13th Russia, India and China (RIC) foreign ministers meeting. "This is her first visit since she took over office last year. Both sides attach great importance to her visit," Chinese foreign ministry spokesperson Hua Chunying told a media briefing here. Swaraj will be the senior most Indian leader to visit Beijing after US President Barack Obama's unprecedented second visit to India to attend the Republic Day parade and the India-US joint statement on advancing shared security in Asia Pacific region which evoked considerable concern here with a spate of critical commentaries in the official media.

During the visit, that begins Saturday, she will interact with top Chinese leaders and attend the 13th RIC foreign ministers meeting on February 2 along with her Chinese and Russian counterparts Wang Yi and Sergei Lavrov. She is scheduled to hold talks with Wang and is also expected to meet Chinese President Xi Jinping. Swaraj will also inaugurate the 'Visit India Year' being organized by India to attract more tourists from China and address the India-China Media Forum being held on the sidelines of her visit.

Elaborating on how China viewed Swaraj's visit, Hua said bilateral ties between the two largest developing countries and major emerging economies were progressing in a "sound and stable way". "Our cooperation has made some headway. We are enhancing mutual political trust and practical cooperation in various fields. We are in sound coordination and cooperation in regional and international issues," she said.

Last year, President Xi made a successful state-visit to India during which a platform and new chapter for strategic cooperation was written, injecting new impetus for bilateral ties, she said. "China will work with India to sustain a sound momentum to build a closely-knit development partnership and realize cooperative, peaceful and common development," she said. Hua said the three countries Russia, China and India are emerging markets and during the RIC foreign ministers meeting, they will exchange views on practical cooperation and issues of common interest.

"We share similar views on major international and regional issues. "So during meeting they will exchange views on practical cooperation and issues of common interest. We believe a range of consensus will emerge from the meeting to further our political trust and our practical cooperation," she said.

But there are also factors that could unite the two neighbors. China and India are interested in peace in their respective peripheries and a "peaceful rise." Both depend on each other for economic development. For example, 80 percent of China's total oil imports pass in proximity to India's southern coast through the straits of Malacca. More importantly in the short run are China's deteriorating relations with Japan and the United States' grand strategy for Asia during President Obama's second term, both of which will weigh heavy on Beijing's motivation to create a Indo-Sino alliance.
Well!! It is important for China!

China must respect the LAC, settle the border disputes And stop all projects Iin POK. Seems they have learnt about India's potential after Obama's visit so they are giving importance to Sushma Swaraj's visit.

Kid, your Agni-5 is a merely a toy comparing to the nuclear missiles Soviet pointed at the head of Chinese. If the Chinese didn't blink facing Soviet threat, do you think they will be scared in front of India?

By the way, no one care about nuclear weapons in a border dispute, this stands correct for both China and India.

It goes without saying that India needs good relationship with China. Hopefully the Chinese adopt a policy of friendly relations with India rather than try to "contain" India by creating trouble via Pakistan and other means.

The message is loud and clear.

We can be friendly, but must always take "precautions". Much like how submarine visits are not aimed against India, and how Pakistan, all weather friend, and their relationship is not related to India, plus how China protected JUD and Hafiz Saee from being banned because they are...social workers of course.

We havent even talked about ULFA going to China for inspiration and support yet.

Its your government / experts who cry that India is understating the range of these missiles. Besides, the Soviet analogy does not work here, the equations are different. Its not just India you need to bother with but others joining India to 'contain' you.

Could you teach that to your lil bitch Pakis, they can't seem to finish a sentence without uttering about nuclear this and nuclear that. :rotflmao:

Expecting a border settlement soon. As has been the case in the past 17 meetings, China has always proposed formalizing the LAC while the Indian side has always wanted to undo the 1962 war. Let's see if India is more realistic this time.

Of course it had nothing to do with Chinas claim on Arunachal Pradesh .
I recall that it was your compatriot that claimed that the chinese government would be taken down by angry bloggers if Xi compromised on AP ?
I always wondered what will these scary bloggers do ? start ranting in all caps ? Does mandarin have an upper case ?

Some interesting developments from the Russia-China-India talks it seems:

Xi, Putin back India on UN terror charter against Pak

In order to corner Pakistan for sheltering and facilitating terrorists involved the 26/11 carnage and other attacks in the country, India seeks to move a resolution in the UN to punish those who shelter and finance terrorism. And on Monday, it enlisted the support of China and Russia for the same. "I see this as a major achievement," Exteral affairs minister Sushma Swaraj told newsmen after a summit of the foreign ministers of Russia, India and China (RIC).

This is a rare occasion when China, a close ally of Pakistan, has taken a stand on an issue that is bound to rattle Islamabad. Beijing's move not only reflects the importance it accords to New Delhi, but is also an acknowledgment of its own problem of terrorism in Xinjiang province. China has often said that 'foreign forces' are helping terrorists in Xinjiang.
Not sure how Pak specific this resolution is going to be but Pak sponsored (directly or otherwise) might just be a common factor here.

Also, 'Out of box' solution for border problem planned

Modi is certainly in a hurry, hope this 'out of the box' is well thought out.
