Bhai I believe sfdr will be flight tested much before astra mk2....
Ya it's true that dual pulse is validated in ngarm
They will be testing the sfdr propulsion tech in a air to air configuration . This doesn't translate directly to testing of astra mk3 . Which will come much later as a complete system ( Astra mk3 ).

Dual pulse has been validated by lrsam / mrsam / ngarm so interms of propulsion bottlenecks don't exist for akash ng and Astra mk2 . System integration ( with algos , fuze , warhead , sensors , datalinks etc ) will be the only bottleneck .

Also interms of guidance tech and related avionics astra mk2 will be a stepping stone for Astra mk3 .

So logically Astra mk2 will need to be validated first as a complete system before Astra mk2 can be validated as a complete system .

1 more thing here: Astra series of missiles will probably give birth to a series of mobile QRSAMs (over and above the existing DRDO product) across various ranges. They are relatively light weight and the Astra Mk2 and Mk3 have long ranges that can cover an Indian Army IBG as it advances into Paki heartland.

Uttam AESA is happening or just a postor ?

If it goes through then the only Russian thing we may opt for is engine ...
Uttam AESA is happening by
Scaling up TRM configuration

GAN version Of ASAR already in development
For AMCA
Right now we out matched Russians In field of radar
Due are bigger R&D funding

Uttam is happening for sure. Only issue is to watch out for its performance with existing Al-31 engine.
There is enough power to supply rest i dont think will be an issue. Anyway we do have the improved version on offer by Russians.

But scaling of Uttam and getting those 1200-1300 TRM as claimed will mean atleast next 5 yrs will be for Dev etc and the upgrade won't start until next 8-10 yrs.

Or I am missing something in terms of time it will take ?

In 2015 it had 736 TRM for Tejas mk1/a have they already scaled it up ?

Its not just RADAR which is getting upgraded. We are implementing IRST, MAWS, RWR and new weapon systems too.
So saying that there would be enough power available for the RADAR to work optimally would be preposterous as of now. Lets check our horses and wait till it completes its flight tests onboard MKI.

Be carefull,
Russian are keen to give very downgraded version of weapons to export (probably far more downgraded than west counterparts).
So the reality may be different.

I say india out matches Russians in field of radars
Russians lack funding due there shrunken economy
I think they have a confortable advance.
Electronic, SAM, artillery are strong assets of russian products. They cut funds everywhere else, not there.

Russian military spending is believed to be as much as 180 billion a year USD when rubbles are converted. They had a 650 billion rearmament plan. So India does not spend anywhere near Russia, nor does it have the experience.

Almost everything India produces is heavily reliant on foreign help and even then it is often a dud that is decades in the making and by the time it is close to completion, it is obsolete. Yet the hype and lobbying behind the products makes one believe India created something world class and revolutionary.

Russia has built 100s of different radars going back decades. Most of which have been used in battle. India built a few examples of radar which are heavily reliant on Israel. I’m not sure in what metric Indians on this forum think India surpass Russia in radars? Did these members disassembled and study the 91N6E radar (S-400)? The Zhuk AESA for the proposed MiG-35? What about the radars from the TU-214R ELINT or A-100 AWACS? What about the SU-57 radar or the various naval or ground based radars? Perhaps India has better missile radars too?

Due availability of Israeli cooperation we to have matched them.
India already has Advanced research on many technologies like GAN AESA,Ramjet Missile in SDFR
Or dual pulse motor like Astra MK2
We just yesterday tested Akash NG
Which dual pulse motor missile.

We already has advanced Long range Greenpine radars
That developed into Swordfish.

While we are Joint cooperation with many western Tot tier Funds

Russians still relies on there PSU'S

India already ahead of them I Seeker technologies
With advanced IIR and AESA band seekers.

While Russians not even 🙄 started prototype yet.

That why the reason We canceled SU-57
In terms of technologies Russians are offering is nothing in respect to Western firms or what we cannot have with are own R&D

India is Four highest spender R&D in the world
And withing decade it will
Outpace many countries.

In terms of AESA radar Russia is ahead as they got GaN based radar and ew suite we lack there but at the same time in terms of packing TR modules we are ahead courtesy Israel may be .

But we are working on GaN based AESA too and it is much better for India to opt for Indigenous radar then russian .

Reason being Russia will provide downgraded version to us at an exorbitant cost and we will be dependent on them for integration of weapon systems. And we have seen how they have used such situations to their advantage in the past.

So overall Indian radar will be much better than what Russia will give to us.

Buddy the latest super duper seeker technology from India found the in the Astra still used an old Russian seeker

Again how do you know India surpasses Russia in seekers technology? Russia doesn’t even have a prototype of what? Russia have revealed AESA radars for its missiles years ago. Those missiles have been seen on the SU-57 and SU-30s already.

India tested a dual pulse motor? So this means India leads Russia now? Never mind Russia has already had dual pulse motors. Indian members like you are randomly listening an bunch of Indian programs that you know nothing about and compare it with Russian programs that also know nothing about. Very professional and reasonable...

Infact they lacks credibility BVR

They only have show cased the EW MMIC back in 2014, No information on radar but based on the Yakhroma radar there is likely that Photonic integrated circuits can be used since its radars are overdue in time and the aircraft was mentioned getting an avionics upgrade.
