What is the story on it's RCS? Any official data or references?

Haha. Usually it’s Russian propaganda that’s way too strong. Remember all that powerful su30 radars ability to do blade counting, acting as a mini awacs bs?

Rafale actually plays it down a bit imo. They’ve been unusually quiet and secretive about spectra. Spectra, the one thing that makes this whole deal worth it. Of course, other than it’s powerful radar, weapons packages, EW systems, pilot ergonomics, Omni role, shorter turn around time, much lower life cycle costs, etc...etc...

Rafale will be 4.5 Gen "semi-stealth" w/ a pretty low RCS and all that. But it's not an out and out heavy stealth fighter.

It's something that has to be noted when you compare it to 5th gen stealth fighters like the Su-57.

Better to try our hand at AMCA rather than giving extortionate amount of money for a plane that's not even that stealthy. This would also probably end any hopes for AMCA as well.

I don't think so ,by looking at the future scenario porkis will most probably get j31 and AMCA will never come before 2035 it will get delayed. so buying at least 2sq of su57 would be better option .

If the engine proves it's claims then it can be used in Super 30 upgrade.

TVC is overhyped. Softfare has supplanted the need for heavy mechanical TVC to vastly improve fighter agility.


And look at how even oldet gen F-18 maneuvers like it has TVC...


More importantly, TVC is no use against an enemy that can see you and thus cannot shoot you down first. TVC cannot also cannot negate human body's G-limitation versus 40+Gs A2A missiles.

I disagree, take the incident of Balakot. Pak Airforce used electronic warfare to jam comms of even the SU30MKI. Aim120c were fired, if they were fired then the pilot of Pakf16 wouldn't be dumb enough to fire an expensive missile like that with the the MKI not falling in within its homing range. The SU30MKI did got radar locks and they evaded the missile by increasing Alpha along with heavy use of TVC. Else you can't outmaneuver a missile like that with slow speeds.

Round nozzles have less thrust loses that the rectangular nozzles engine-nozzle transition, thus F-22 basically is cooling off the thrust but also losing thrust, wasting it, Su-57 or J-20 having less powerful engines can not do that.
Aerodynamically the F-22`s rectangular nozzles do have lower drag but reduce thrust in ranges of 10-15% so around a tonne per engine.

Correctly said, the whole point of F-22 nozzle to be shaped was compromising on thrust to achieve stealth. It was mentioned by an airforce pilot in some airshow I saw on youtube. Its a very good trade-off.
