In the mid 2000s FGFA was offered to China. Though China needed the engine tech of AL-31 series badly to make its indegeneous WS-15 work but they refused. 10 years down the line they are flying two fifth gen fighters j-20 and j-31. After China's refusal Russia offered it to us but by the time we signed the initial agreement in 2007 most of the developement work regarding PAK-FA was done and its design frozen. The first prototype took of in 2009. Hence HAL dream of designing a aircraft with the Russians from scrath never really materialized. After that the FGFA project was all about MKI zation of PAK-FA basic platform we will not gain any knowhow by a repeat of Su-30mki deal.No wonder IAF is against it.
WS 15X is still years away from full operational development. Recently they bought more AL 31FN and still use high quality russian crystal blades in their WS 13 series.

Still they didn't invest in PAK-FA programme and decided to invest in their own programes. The Al 31 engines are purchased by them in limited numbers only to reverse engineer them into the WS series and for initial prototypes of J-20. It won't be long before they perfect the WS-15 given the manpower and money they have devoted to this area.

China has been talking about WS 15X since 2006. Crystal blade fan technology is something they have not been able to perfect yet. As a result they burn out after a short time.

Work on crystal blade technology in China is going on for last 2 decades. They are not able to perfect it even and hence need technology infusion from reverse engineering al31 engines which they have ordered in limited numbers from Russia. But the point is they have not invested in pak fa but rather indegeneous R&D and that is something we can learn from them.

Russians like Chinese money but don't trust them. Hence when I have a brand new pitch, I will not sell it to others at cheap price and would rather try to develop it on my own with some foreign fund infusion. That is why you require PAKFA because it will raise our technology standards from Tejas - Su 30MKI to 5th generation. We are paying for whole ecosystem and not just flyaway plane by blue balling Russians.

US will never give us this freedom with F 35 and AMCA is still a pipe dream.

Russian's have sold Al-31 engines as well as S-400 missiles to China in limited number. China buys these stuff in limited numbers only to reverse engineer them into indegeneous products. Also there is no guarantee that that even if we invest in PAK-FA, in the future Russia won't sell it to China who will reverse engineer such jets in some JXX jets and donate to Pakistan. Hence we should follow the Chinese aviation example where bulk of money goes into R&D and when research hits a bottleneck they simply buys stuff in limited numbers to reverse engineer them and infuse that technology to move ahead with indegeneous programmes.

I can't stop but laugh at your stupid remarks. First you claim you are a ETC engineer with a fake B.Tech to be making microwave products when you don't know the speed of light. Then you flash a fake foreign MBA and claim to be a manager at your office supervising a team of engineers making microwaves. Then you claim that defence scientist are complaining to you in person about the atmosphere at DRDO and asking you for a job when your own job security is in jeopardy depending on whether you get a meagre contract from army. Then you claim that you are doing high tech science project and all our enemies are snooping around you to get hold of some information [emoji23].

I think you are smoking top quality weed and uttering pure crap. You are from a manual scavenger low class family who I doubt have even passed class 10 let alone being an MBA. Only work you do is to clean public urinals of your neighbourhood and with your meagre income you buy drugs and weed. In your pastime you smoke weed and imagine doing science projects and become Tata/Ambani when the matter of fact you are scientifically and technically illiterate .

As for DRDO no private sector companies can match the R&D output of DRDO without spending an equivalent money and manpower for R&D. Yes they have superior manufacturing capabilities and may eventually replace OFB but not DRDO.

Then again in your low IQ brain these things won't enter. Keep dreaming about microwaves and being Tata/Ambanis while cleaning local toilets and polishing boots at traffic stops.
OFB are too now being upgraded with latest machines.

Russia has sold these items to China en mass and form the backbone of their defence. Chinis are incapable of producing reliable analogs so must rely on Russia who takes advantage at the expense of India.

FGFA is my dream, will fly in Indian skies in 3 years: HAL Chief

T Suvarna Raju, Chairman of India’s Hindustan Aeronautics has told TIMES NOW that the FGFA or the Fifth Generation Fighter Aircraft that India and Russia have been working on is a good project and should continue. Raju reacting to reports that IAF has not recommended to the government in a report to not procure or continue with FGFA project based on Su-57 design, he said that ” We are still hopeful and this is a 5th generation is an opportunity for the Industry and as a country to going for this kind of technology”. Raju also added that ” It is not easy to get this kind of technology from anywhere else “. When asked why the air force seemed to be unhappy with it, he said it may have its own compulsions. when questioned on prospects of IAF procuring additional Sukhoi-30MKI, Raju said: ” As of now there is no intention from the customer but we will be too happy to produce additional Sukhoi-30MKI “. Raju also said that he is hopeful and FGFA is his dream and it will fly in Indian skies in next Three years if the final contract is finalized soon.

HAL personnel always looks very optimistic about getting orders after all it keeps their ship sailing, typical PSU babus. There is a big silence at the moment in this project and I hope it is a sign of a tornado to come. I am expecting some big news at least withing 4-5 months, also can't rule out western lobby reporting against this deal in upcoming months.

Su-57 in its current form doesn't look like a complete 5th gen standard set by F-22 but it is unique in its own sense and it compliments the Russian doctrine of searching F-22 early and killing asap. IAF's doctrine should be same as it will face the mini-transport jet J-20 and J-31 in future as threat and the sensors on Su-57 will be very essential in hunting those Chinese jets.

Bondarev: Su-57 can become a fighter of the sixth generation

The newest Su-57 fighter due to its modernization potential will be able to become a sixth-generation fighter. This opinion was expressed in an interview with TASS by the ex-commander-in-chief of the Air and Space Forces of the Russian Federation, the chairman of the Council of the Federation Council on Defense and Security Viktor Bondarev.

"This is actually a beautiful airplane, and it can be not only of the fifth, but also of the sixth generation." He has a tremendous modernization potential, most importantly, that he is the best among the existing models, he embodied all the best that exists in modern aviation science, not only Russian, but also the world, "he said.

Bondarev stressed that it takes time to deploy Su-57 production in Russia. "In the first year, VCS will not get 20 or 15 planes, only two or three, and so on," the senator added.

"We have unleashed aviation plants to produce a certain batch of the newest aircraft and helicopters, and now we can not say that we do not need them, in any case, an irreversible process will begin, and this year there will be no next year. ", - he said.

The perspective aviation complex of front-line aviation (PAK FA, T-50) was first launched into the air in 2010. Experimental design work, as previously reported, should be completed in 2019, then it is expected to begin deliveries of these aircraft to the troops. The installation lot, said the head of the United Aircraft Corporation Yuri Slyusar, will consist of 12 cars. In August of this year, it became known that the T-50 received the serial name (index) of the Su-57.

In turn, Bondarev, who then held the post of commander-in-chief, stated that Russia had begun work on the creation of a sixth-generation fighter in both manned and unmanned versions.

US already made F-22 & F-35
Chinese J-20 ready , J-31 prototypes are flying
Russian Su-57 name only christened ,But still T-50 proto 10 & 11 to come later
Japanese F-3 delayed, may be scrapper
RoK KF X uncertain
Should India rather jpin hand with Japan for FGFA rather Russia?
I guess it will be better. Both can develop soe. Both can't develop some . But if both joins hand , a much better solution may come rather Indo Russian FGFA

India is already committed to FGFA deal, we can't back out, we can only improve the product from now onwards according to our doctrine.

We can collaborate with Japan for AMCA but that is completely different matter.

lol, Another program into oblivion in context of f35. soon kai kf x will have same fate... US doesn't allow allies industries to grow be it Canada's avro arrow, iai lavi, foas. Japan can fund this 40 billion is overstatement . One thing they did wrong was associating engine programme with this like we did with tejas.

recently US said more GE-414 engines only if you buy F-16 or F-18........
