T-50 (until 1-06-2) is a prototype for aerodynamics and avionics testing only. so there is no need to polish surfaces for perfection. It's normal for prototypes (you can compare with YF-22 or X-35 for example). But even now (on 1-05R) you can see rather less of them than on 1-01 and 1-02.
T-50-6-2 (1-06-2) prototype that we are expecting in late December/early January will have full RAM coating, so you will see no rivets on it.
And a photo - farewell to Kansk:

I see.Thanks for the insight

But what about the S-ducts ? And RCS ?

S-ducts will not be implemented as far as they lead to engine thrust losses and flight modes restrictions. There were another way to implement compressors coverage that is rather more airflow friendly.
At the top of this, Russians value flight abilities over stealth, so there were reaonable stealth features implemented rather than radical ones like Americans do.
It leads to some (not dramatically) RCS grows but gives less or no restrictions for flight envelope.

I see.So the Russians are sacrificing some stealth for added maneuverability. I wonder how this sits with India's necessities. Thanks for the clarifications

Russians have always relied on maneuverability over stealth and they lay more emphasis on WVR combat over BVR. These two form the basis of their air combat doctrine hence they are champions in TVC and WVR missile systems.

IAF sits well with these two doctrines since the present and close future scenarios in our neighborhood including J 20 and J 31 are not going to cause too much concern as long as we get our FGFA and AMCA combine on time and up to the standards required. Much like the Russians the Chinese 5th Gen planes are not as stealthy as the Raptors. To be very frank the Chinese 5th Gen planes are all show and no class since they dont even have a engine to assist in making the J 20 / J 31 a true low heat signature target for SAM's or A2A missiles. IRST will light these planes from miles away without even switching to radars which would mean they cannot detect you in turn. Hell, I keep saying put a world class IRST on Tejas Mk 1A and see the fun... I bet cause of its low RCS, its going to be difficult to light it up and shoot down!

MOSCOW, December 7. /TASS/. The tests confirming the flight characteristics of Russia’s fifth- generation PAK FA (Prospective Airborne Complex of Frontline Aviation) fighter jet have been actually completed, Deputy Defense Minister Yuri Borisov said in an interview with Rossiya 24 TV Channel on Monday. "Several planes are now primarily testing airborne avionics. The tests proving the aircraft’s flight characteristics have practically been completed," the deputy defense minister said. Deputy Defense Minister Borisov earlier told the media the Russian military would purchase only a squadron of PAK FA fighter jets, compensating this with a larger order for Sukhoi Su-35 (NATO reporting name: Flanker-E) fighters. The Sukhoi PAK FA (Prospective Airborne Complex of Frontline Aviation) is a fifth-generation fighter program of the Russian Air Force. The T-50 is the name of the prototype aircraft designed by Sukhoi for the PAK FA program. The aircraft is a stealthy, single- seat, twin-engine jet fighter, and will be the first operational aircraft in Russian service to use stealth technology. It is a multipurpose fighter designed for the air superiority and attack roles. The fighter is planned to have super-cruise, stealth, super- manoeuvrability and advanced avionics to overcome the prior generation of fighter aircraft as well as ground and maritime defences. The PAK FA is intended to be the successor to the MiG-29 and Su-27 in the Russian Air Force and serve as the basis for the Fifth Generation Fighter Aircraft being co-developed by Sukhoi and Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) for the Indian Air Force. PAK FA fighter first flew in 2010. Flight tests of Russia’s 5th- generation fighter jet "practically completed"

It's not about maneurability only, but about full and supercruisable speed and combat radius as well.
T-50 is designed to have 2100km/h supercruise and 2650km/h (2.48M) full speed, but it could not be achieved with S-ducts and thus uncontrollable air intakes.

Yes those seem to be notable benefits but are the trade-offs worth it in your opinion ?

It is good to hear that India will be receiving such stealth ,super cruise aircraft .this will take another 5 to 7 year for the aircraft to comes in Indian airforce inventory.till then concentrate on upgrading suk 30 mki, jaguar fleet with isreal elta radar.this will added as a great punch .

India will get Su-30MKI upgrade to Su-35S level in avionics and engine which is rater more cool than any Israeli toys.

Yes, they have repaired (actually reworked/refurbished) T-50-5 (1-05) prototype.

PM Modi’s Russia visit: New, cheaper deal on Sukhoi fighter planes

Russia has made a new offer on the delivery of Sukhoi T-50 (PAK FA) fighter jets to India under the joint fifth-generation fighter aircraft (FGFA) initiative.

Under the new offer, India will have to pay $3.7 billion, instead of $6 billion, for the technological know-how and three prototypes of PAK FA fighters. The proposal awaits a decision from Prime Minister Narendra Modi, when he meets Russian President Vladimir Putin for the annual India-Russia summit this week.
India and Russia had signed an inter-governmental agreement to co-develop and co-produce the FGFA in 2007, which was followed by the $295 million preliminary design contract in December 2010. Modelled on the successful Brahmos missile project, the project involves Russia’s Sukhoi Design Bureau and the Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL). The overall FGFA project cost for making 127 single-seat fighters in India has been estimated to be around $30 billion.

The final design contract, under which both sides were to contribute an initial $6 billion each for prototype development and production, has not been signed between India and Russia so far. Meanwhile, Russia has gone ahead with the development of PAK FA and claims that it will enter service with the Russian Air Force in 2016, and enter serial production in 2017.

“Now that they already have the fighter, the Russians have made a revised offer to us. For $3.7 billion, they will give us all the technological know-how of making the fighter. We will also get three prototypes from them in that amount,” a senior defence ministry official said.

But the Indian Air Force (IAF) remains opposed to the idea. A senior IAF official said, “We are not in favour of the FGFA. The PAK FA fighter is too expensive at even this rate, and we are not sure of its capabilities.”

Sources said the Russian offer is driven by Moscow’s cash crunch and lack of firm orders with its defence industry.

Why? What's wrong now except the cost?
