MOSCOW, September 20 (RIA Novosti) - Russia's Sukhoi Civil Aircraft has started community noise tests on the Superjet 100 passenger aircraft in Italy as part of the SSJ 100 certification program, the company said on Monday.

"The plane has already started a program of test flights at the Levaldigi airport [in northern Italy]," Sukhoi said in a statement.

The community noise tests are required to verify the compliance of the plane with aircraft noise certification regulation.

The tests are part of a certification program involving three SSJ100 aircraft. The program is now 70% complete, with the aircraft having made 814 flights so far.

The Superjet 100 is a family of medium-haul passenger aircraft developed by Sukhoi in cooperation with U.S. and European aviation corporations, including Boeing, Snecma, Thales, Messier Dowty, Liebherr Aerospace and Honeywell.

The aircraft is capable of carrying 75-95 passengers up to 4,500 kilometers.

Sukhoi earlier said there were 18 SSJ 100 aircraft in production at different stages of completion.

The company plans to manufacture at least 700 Superjet 100s, and intends to sell 35% of them to North America, 25% to Europe, 10% to Latin America, and 7% to Russia and China.

Currently, Sukhoi has at least 122 firm orders for Superjet 100 airliners. The first aircraft are expected to be delivered to Armenia's national airline Armavia and Russia's flagship air carrier Aeroflot at the end of the year.
