The deliveries of new close air support aircraft to the Russian Air Force will start by 2020, Air Force spokesman Col. Vladimir Drik said.

"The Air Force units will start receiving this aircraft by 2020," Drik said on Monday. "It will gradually replace highly-reliable Su-25SM Frogfoot attack planes."

According to Drik, the new aircraft will meet the demands of modern warfare and feature elements of "stealth" technology, the whole range of tactical weaponry, modern radar and navigation equipment.

Meanwhile, Russia will continue to upgrade its outdated Su-25 attack aircraft to Su-25SM version, which has a significantly better survivability and combat effectiveness.

The Russian Air Force currently has over 30 Su-25SM planes in service and plans to modernize about 80 Su-25s by 2020, Drik said.

It seems the russians might the be the only one who is gonna develop a stealthier CAS manned aircrafts

Russians follow a different way of operations. Like, Each fighter plane given a role defined rather using a aircraft for Multirole. They may gonna use PAKFA only for Air-Superiority roles, leaving ground operations to rest of the fighters.

The Su25 were quite outstanding during the Georgian War. Even after some direct AAG hits, they quite succeeded to coming back home

Why do we have no ground support aircraft? The Jaguars are hardly capable of carrying any significant load.

We have none is it because our doctrine is diffrent? I guess that is why the Army wants its own air wing for ground support aircraft.

What do you think the F-35B is?
It is not a CAS aircraft. It is a multi-role aircraft with focus on carrier based operations.

F-35B is a STOVL aircraft, which can be used in carriers. F-35C is dedicated carrier based aircraft.
