Sri Lanka's GDP per capita is $4095 and Sri Lanka is more than double India's
Life expectancy in Sri Lanka is 77.9 years, 10% higher than the world average, while in India it is 68 years.

Sri Lanka's infant mortality rate is 0.85%, while India's is 4.4%. Sri Lanka's maternal mortality rate is 0.039 per cent, while India's remains high at 1.37 per cent.

Sri Lanka has a high literacy rate of 92.5% and a youth literacy rate of 98%.

87.3 percent of Sri Lanka's population has access to clean drinking water
The Irony

The island nation of 22 million people is grappling with rolling blackouts for up to 13 hours a day as the government scrambles to secure foreign exchange to pay for fuel imports.

Most electricity production is from coal and oil. Both are imported but in short supply as the country does not have enough foreign exchange to pay for supplies.

A vessel carrying 5,500 metric tonnes of cooking gas had to leave Sri Lankan waters after the company that ordered it could not procure $4.9 million from local banks to pay for it.

In the first major food aid to the country since Colombo secured a credit line from New Delhi, Indian traders have started loading 40,000 tonnes of rice.

India on Saturday delivered another 40,000 MT of diesel to Sri Lanka. India has supplied around 200,000 MT of fuel to the island nation over the last 50 days.

The government has said it is seeking a bailout from the International Monetary Fund while asking for fresh loans from India and China.

Beggers shouldn't boast of their living standards when they are holding a begging bowl infront of the world.

Sri Lanka can't even sustain 2 crore people & India has 138 crore.

If I give a simple anology.

Guy 1) He buys nice house and a nice car, wears fancy clothes, all on high interest loans and has no money in bank account.

Guy 2) He lives modestly, he lives in an old house, drives an old motorcycle, wears torn cloths. But he has no loans and has saved lots of money in bank account for hard times.

Now all liberal outlets are cheering on Guy 1 as rich because he lives rich people's lifestyle. Meanwhile they criticize Guy 2 for being poor and tells him to learn economics from Guy 1.

One day Guy 1 has taken so much loans that he can't even pay EMIs of his house and car. Now he goes to Guy 2 and begs for some money to pay EMIs otherwise his lavish lifestyle will end. Guy 2 gives money and pays his loans. Guy 1 goes back to taking more loans and lives even more lavishly. Again he is bankrupt and begs Guy 2 for money.

This is Sri Lanks's situation in a nutshell.

Nominal per capita means shit, lel. Even that too has fallen rapidly and currently near similar (currency depreciation is a thing here ....)

In an ideal world nations would report decent socio-economic parameters even without IMF bailouts and cheenis would admit that they indeed created the Wuhan virus but here we are ...........

Where did Guy 2 get money from?
Why would Guy 1 borrow from Guy 2 when Guy 1 could go to a bank and borrow? Be a good servant of the banking cabals (in a financial sense be their golem) and be rewarded by master.

Srilanka is royally fucked,Chinese debt trap is real

The Times Of India (@timesofindia) Tweeted:
#Exclusive: “China won’t reschedule debt but they will pay us a billion dollars to pay off a billion dollars." Sri Lanka’s ex-PM #RanilWickremesinghe tells @prsundarji. #SriLanka #China #DebtTrap #BRI #EconomicCrisis #Protests #UNP

Watch here: https://t.co/Fiu6FuZ5Yi https://t.co/5FC2S8Z4hu
“Sri Lanka has made a new demand of $2.5 billion from China: a $1 billion loan and a $1.5 billion credit line”

So the news should be true, $1 billion in new loans to pay off the previous loan, which is equivalent to extending the repayment period, which is a form of debt restructuring

There is also a $1.5 billion credit line

Buy the island pure cash for $50B spread over 10 years. Make it an Indian state. Otherwise it’s a huge strategic vulnerability
I was thinking we should buy Northern Province of Sri Lanka for all cash deal.
Once Sri Lanka is out of economic problem they will again start simping for PRC and play India vs PRC card.

But it would be great for Republic of India. We shall have a permanent foothold on that island. A lot of fishing issues could be resolved. India's EEZ would increase. For a long time Tamil population feel northern province is an extension of Tamil Nadu. Our local population can be satisfied.
Its a win-win for us.
I am not advocating hard-border like India-Pakistan but a soft-border like US-Canada.
With permanent Indian state on the island, they will have additional benefit like getting connected to Indian electric grid, Indian supply chain and petrochemical reserves.
