Christianity is growing in Asia but receding in America and Europe. Islam is the religion having the most people who want to convert - mostly to Christianity. I believe that ISIS and other hardline Muslim movements are largely a reaction to risk of an Islam implosion.

Hindu and Buddhist population is stable to negative.

I would say net net both Islam and Christianity are gaining in adherents. BUT Islam is far more fragile compared to Christianity. A bulk move from Islam to Christianity is quite possible,

In the short term Christianity seems to be the gainer. In the long term - Hinduism will be the gainer as Christians convert to Hinduism.

Organizations like New York Times are highly political - you can call it mouthpiece of the empire. This article has a remarkable lack of condemnation for people who executed this massacre.

All Abrahamic religions are political religions where violence is only a means to an end.

The empire will condemn NewJeaLand louder than SriLanka; though loss of life is greater in Sri Lanka. As Sri Lanka serves its purpose while Newjealand does not.

I have no hard statistics at this time but there is a significant effort to lure Asians into Christian fold. Most of this will come from Muslim population.

Look at Joshua Project. Heck, they have a thing called 5-40 window or something. According to them, vast amounts of people live between 5°N to 40°N who aren't Christians (India, China, Japan) and it's their goal to Christianised them

I agree. Again I lack hard data but Hindu and Buddhist are facing slight decline, not a major decline.
Islam is growing (due to natural increase in population) but it is bursting at the seams. I can say safely that Islam faces mass conversion to Christianity.

My take on it
Islamists want to take revenge on Christians regarding Christ church shooting in New Zealand on previous month, Of-course they want to attack West but that is highly impossible now due to their high security alert, so they chose soft target Srilanka for revenge .That is why they selected 3 churches and 3 hotels(mostly foreigners stay) to send a message to western/Christians.

The Christchurch mosque massacre were on the March 15th , less than 6 weeks from the Sri Lanka attacks.

I'd tend to think that an operation of this scale (reports of 9 suicide bombers) , takes a degree of planning and organization and would take longer than 6 weeks.

Basically, I'm stating is that the Christchurch massacre may have been the public justification for this by Islamists, but this action was probably in the pipeline for a while longer.
