That would be because no other state has such scale of violence and scope of involvement?

That would be totally correct but we still can't just turn the other way when it comes to the effectiveness of the jkp SOG. They are an extremely effective and deadly force and operate very well along with the army in the state. The bells and whistles which other state SWATs have is great but the thing which matters the most in the end is experience, which frankly speaking the SOG has plenty of. Imho it's a record only matched by the Greyhounds.

Village boy who is member of Village Defence Committee (VDC) maintain vigil while sitting on the hill at village Nalthi in Bhadarwah in Jammu and Kashmir. Police official SDPO Abdul Qayoom KPS, told that, VDC's have been put on high alert in all remote and far-off areas of Doda -Bhadarwah from security point of view. As counter insurgency operations is going on from last two weeks, during which 10 militants of different outfits have been killed in different encounter

Are these VDC ever help military to trap and kill terrorist or informing them about possible militant hideout ?

Killing of Ummer Fayaz, a 22-year-old Lieutenant of the Rajputana Rifles, Lieutenant Fayaz was kidnapped from a family wedding and killed, The officer, a Kashmiri, was on leave and had gone for his cousin's wedding at his village when he was kidnapped. The family, too terrified to report the kidnapping, had hoped that he would be sent back alive.

Ummer Fayaz was fresh out of the National Defence Academy and knew the risks, but "didn't think twice about going to his village unarmed"

Ishfaq Ahmad Padder, a resident of Manchewa Yaripora area of Kulgam district. “ terrorist killed during an encounter in Tantray Pora village of Kulgam district was involved in the brutal killing of 22-year-old army officer Umar Fayaz in Shopian,” a police spokesperson said, adding that one AK 47 rifle, two AK 47 magazines, were seized.
