One option is do put money on development of the Kashmir valley. Get in the good books of the Kashmiris and than extend the idea of an independent Kashmir (including Northern Areas and GB). This will cut-off Pakistan from China and also provide a much friendlier gas line through the Northern Areas.
It will not work. There is an islamic angle to it. The Kashmiri sepratists are on ISI payroll, so when a moderate voice speaks up - he is eliminated. The govt has spent tons on money on the Kashmir vale (ignoring Ladhak & Punch/ Rajouri), to no effect. In 1989 the poverty ratio was 4% in J&K, when it was 26% in the rest of the country.
Do what US did with West germany. Let the people of Pakistan occupied Kashmir know what they are missing. This would keep them in our good books. Their source of income through tourism will be largely from India. Investment in Kashmir will be largely from India. They will be on our side as far as economics are concerned.
In 1994 the retail price of sugar in India was Rs.14 per kg, while in POK it was (pak) Rs.32 per kg. The best part is that the people along the LOC in POK know about this. but it makes no difference. We are kafirs, they want to be with their muslim brothers.

It is a shame that a nation has to be kept together by military force.

Best is to wait patiently for pakistan to provoke us then use the opportunity and take back pok.
LOL

Yeah they keep asking for nice spanking every now and then so we should no initiate anything. We don't want war or Gazwa-e-Pak kinda stuff...... let that Na-Pak country burn in it's own fire while we get busy in our development.

Again talks of Indian Kashmir. Why no one ever talks about ILLEGALLY OCCUPIED KASHMIR by PAK? Why is that the GoI, media everyone toes pak agenda to talk about the kashmir of India? Do you guys realize how important GB is for Indian security energy as well as strategic. The chinese do and thats why they are digging in out there in GB. We are going to be in serious trouble if we disregard that region. India has to put on table the issue of PoK and GB. start raising it when they meet those scums from across the border. Indian kashmir is doing well enough. Talk about GB and PoK. GB political parties very recently asked India to intervene as save them from Pak as GB is legally Indian land. Yet the GoI failed to respond.

I think if everyone in India starts to talk about it, GoI will be forced to talk about it and not just follow pak agenda on talks where only Indian Kashmir is the focus.
Good points but unfortunately the kind of govt we have right now it's difficult to think that they can follow that counter-offensive strategy. They are much more busy in defending their own seat in parliament.Aam janta is facing difficulties in much more important issues like inflation, poverty etc and you know that Kashmir,GB was NEVER on our top list( unlike Pakistan whose first aim is occupying Kashmir)

If our politicians in Delhi have the stomach for it we can start paying back in a rather deadly manner.
First, Delhi must declare that any terror strike in India will be considered an attack on the country from Pakistan and will invite a military retaliation.

The prepare a two pronged strategy:
- Internal - for J&K.
- External to take apart Pakistan peace meal economically.

There has been enough of pussyfooting and poodlefaking going on.

Sir, the ground situation is different there. The people of PoK want to join with INDIA but they are being forced to stay calm and not to revolt against the local administration. All the people who talk about human rights should go into PoK and report the ground situation prevailing over there.

The First point of "internal strategy" (Israel stye) was a really bad idea that would result in global outcry.Reversing Demography is close to ethnic cleansing. Reversing demography is what is happening in northern SL.
Such an idea could later be applied to other parts of the country also that would result in unprecedented violence and the threat of Civil War.
Then there is no other solution...

What is China doing in POK? Can the PLA be active in POK, if there is an unfortunate incident in Tibet? It is clear, that the Pakistan Army is in no shape to operate on it's eastern border. Suppose in a conflict, parts of Pakistan are occupied by forces unfriendly to the Government? The Pakistan Army will be fighting India, and will loose Pakistan to the Pathans of Khyber-Pakhtoonwa. Will Pakistan allow the PLA in Punjab?

But our own Kashmir isn't entirely peaceful. There are Islamic loonies there still against the Indian culture. They are very less today but Kashmir is still not equalized with the non-return of Pandits, Buddhists and Sikhs. Until the ratio is balanced and ARTICLE 370 is removed, it will continue remaining a fundo state.

Removing Article 370 is the best decision that the government can make. Let anyone be able to buy land in Kashmir, many people will make real estate investments there and many Kashmiris will sell out and relocate to other parts of India. Over 2 to 3 decades there will be more integration with the rest of India and the loonies will just become a tiny minority and hence irrelevant.

We will not lose ours. We cannot take back PoK without a huge loss of life (direct attack to gain all of PoK). It can only be got back using cold start. Pak knows it and that is why they are shit scared of cold start. Cold start allows us to negotiate a surrender of PoK. That apart, collapse of Pak will speed up a return of PoK.

People there want to be with India. There are many news reels that have shown it. They don't like to be Pakistanis.

Militarily it is very much possible. But NOT under this type of government.

But first, we must deal with the Communists on our Eastern border.
