The second “near-term” project is the “lightweight small arms technology” project. This involves building rifles, carbines and machine guns from lightweight polymer cast material. Even the ammunition is cast from plastic, to reduce weight. US firm, Textron, is already working on this technology. It would partner an Indian firm to develop and build small arms for India.

The mass Intervention of AK happened during mid-late 90s even before the arrival of INSAS firearms in mass, where 9mm was found a lesser range and lack punch compare to what Terrorist were using, Back then most units had SLR which was ill suited for the need, Hence we imported various AKs from various origins and latter OFB produced copies of AKs without permission of Russians / east block, Due to the sanctification with AKs in preform-ace and quantity, their were never really need for INSAS carbine back in days.
However in the future you guys will be getting the best of both worlds!

SIG 716 G2 PATROL / Short Piston AR 10

AK 203 / AKM with improved ergonomics

Assuming MOD is serious about replacing the Sterling Carbines, then the CAR 816 could be inducted as well.

CAR 816 CQB Variant / Short Piston AR 15

Work in progress, by OFB
This video is 2 years old, which means final version should have been ready by now, yet no news on it yet.

Do you think these Are in Field Operation Now because I never seen them used in Any Operation by the Indian Army in J&K Region or North East Region. This Looks like a License Produced FN MAG. Which is Good Squad And General Purpose Machine Gun used by Many Countries Around the World. Pakistan uses MG-3 Which is an Excellent Machine Gun Along With G3 Which is An Excellent Assault Rifle India Needs a Belt Fed Machine Gun and Assault Rifles that can Compete with our Enemies.

Agreed............

In place of Sterling, systems like MX4 has been brought in. But you have to keep in mind that Sterling, MX4 and Browning handgun share the same 9x19 parabellum round.

So technically you have a single round for all the three weapon systems. But the moment you bring in JVPC, you would have to adapt a new round. Now sterling or MX4 would get replaced, but what about the Browning? We can't replace it as a side arm.

That means the troops would have to adapt one more extra ammo along with the existing ammo. So it would put pressure in terms of logistics and overall operational cost.
MX4 has / had lot of problems during operational use with bsf but since it is foreign weapon no media raked it up nor did the armed forces cry over it for long. The matter was swept under the carpet.

True we even deducted the money from the amount to be paid as It had around 5% rate of defective ones during testing and high rate of failure when inducted.

INSAS/AKs whatever is available is in use now .I think it is going to be replaced soon a proposal was underway sometime back acc to an article I read sometime back.

MX4 makes no sense with regard to our SMG requirements. The buttstock is solid plastic which hampers movement when trying to reload. A simple foldable stock would have done the job.

Absolutely right either a 5.56 carbine or AK derivative will do the job. Considering those trying to infiltrate will be likely to have AKs as well and may be bullet proof jackets. There is no point in keeping our forces in any sort of disadvantage in that situation.

Any idea on this?
................
If you look closely it appears ofbjust slapped some rails and other mods over their insas bullpup design.

What i fail to understand is just how hard is it for these guys to actually come with a nice new gun.
