Re: INSAS Rifle, LMG & Carbine

Photos are taken by : @<a href="http://defenceforumindia.com/forum/member.php?u=23" target="_blank">sayareakd</a> Sir at Defexpo 2012

Those firearms are actually M4/M16/SVD and FN-MAG but TATA will make them as per Army demands under tata logo..

The one reason army is not interested coz those are not as per GSQR unlike INSAS or RFI out for AR and this hopefull does not turn into BEML case.. :)

=====================

Private sector lacks the communication bridge between them and army, this will only solve when Gov ensure proper ways of communication..
Those are fake airsoft guns. I think they were only displaying the scopes.

Re: INSAS Rifle, LMG & Carbine

If our government focus on national defense as much as in import such low quality would not be there, before compare rifles you should compare workshops, machines, labor working condition and over all the system management,
In my opinion, nobody saw the Insas fiasco coming. Ishapore 2A and 2A1 were very much comparable to SMLE in quality of machining and materials. Ishapore 1A1, though having a mix up of components tooled under metric and imperial systems still was comparable in performance to FALs made in other countries. Insas on the other hand, not only did it have much more parts than FAL, but it also required much better tolerance limits.

Sir current purchase system is like this, first requirement is made, then RFI is made based on doctrine and issued. Firms and companies have to be register with DGQA, only then they can apply for tender, if they are not register they can apply provided they can get register before supplying. Then they open the tender, do the tests on products and finally L1 bid was taken.

Now the stupidity of all this, lets suppose i have very good product, for which their is no RFI, then they are NOT going to buy it :tsk:. So local company will be kept high and dry :mad:.

Re: INSAS Rifle, LMG & Carbine

Indian made SLR were 7-8kgs heavy, If one use it he has to go under oil bath, and it had a issue with oil spill through out time and smoke after firing 20rnds or so, It was not comparable to foreign made FAL in quality, the reason why so i have told..

INSAS 1b on other hand also had issue but through out time it was rectified unlike like SLR, INSAS striping and reassembling record time is same as FAL regardless or parts so does its cleaning & oiling under field area that is 12-20 mins record time, INSAS compare to SLR is much better in both using it personally and quality..

----------------------
ne can compare photos of both home and foreign factory conditions where these small arms are made, Of course there will be a difference in them and hence the product after all, the issue is not there but at very ground point..

Ishapore 1A1, though having a mix up of components tooled under metric and imperial systems still was comparable in performance to FALs made in other countries. Insas on the other hand, not only did it have much more parts than FAL, but it also required much better tolerance limits.

@Kunal Biswas

Sir, what do u think is the number of TAR-21 rifles(all variants) in use with all Indian armed force including special forces?
Prasun Sengupta claims that around 100,000 TAR-21 ARs are in use with Indian armed forces.

Very possible, I assume the same..

The reason is that IA is providing almost all PARA units TAR-21 as primary rifle due to its design..

Chinese Counter-Terrorism
Unit using M4 Clone (Norinco
CQ-A)

These images were taken from a Chinese TV program about the Snow Leopard Commando Unit (SLCU, 雪豹突击队) training program. The Snow Leopards are a special police unit officially known as 3rd Group, 13th Detachment, People's Armed Police Beijing General Corp. They are trained to respond to counter- terrorism, riots, bombs and hijacking. The Norinco CQ-A, also known as the Norinco CQ 5.56mm Type A, is Norinco's M4A1 clone. It is produced for use internally as well as export.
