MCX is available for 2200 dollars ?

When did they quote the price ?? The tender isn't open yet I guess

But at what cost sirji? With an MRP of 2200$ per piece(if separate 300 blackout barrel and parts are not bought), MCX remains a SINGLE CAL weapon for us. An average Excalibur MK1 would cost anywhere around 600$ to 800$ after all such mods done as above. Not only you can buy 3 modded Excaliburs but also optics for it can also be bought.
I agree 100% that MCX is a completely different beast and is my personal favourite NON AR rifle. But when it comes to arming 100s of thousands of soldiers with a rifle that is easy to learn, less on recoil, extreme condition tested, easy to disassemble and reinstall and cheap, then I guess nothing beats a regular INSAS family rifle. Now I am also 100% sure that if quality of materials like polymer, metal and quality of craftmanship is improved, INSAS will become one of the most versatile battle proven rifles to ever exist on earth(point here being cheap and easy to produce in mass).

Not a lot but yes cheaper.. last time they brought a DI version which wasn't available in market that's why it was cheap and until it arrived no one knew.

There shouldn't be any fcuk up with MCX now else a simple AR based CARACAL is better.

If OFB can simply offer a TAR with 6.8 round to army there prospect may shine.

That round itself will outshine 5.56 or 7.62 AK

Army has specifically asked for 5.56

6.5x39mm Grendel is better standard over proprietory 6.8x43mm SPC, one prime reason why amreeka itself stayed away from that round among other things.
And there already are AK pattern magaznies available (mainly for Vepr rifle of Ukraine) for that round, you know for civilian use, that we could use to design our owns.

That is the civilian cost for MCX. For Army tenders, unless it is in lakhs of unit, the cost will be relatively more. Not that I'm against MCX or anything...infact I want our troops to just use the SIG's 716 and MCX for all assault rifles. They could use MCX Virtus carbines but these things are never gonna happen...
OFB has a better chance to literally copy M4A1 and get it selected by Army Chief than MCX assault rifle deal.

I guess it will come down to X95/Ace vs CAR 816
ACE can’t qualify, it’s barrel length and effective range is too short to fit in the required length of Army while the longer barrel version has a far higher overall length compared to the required length. ACE is out of question. I feel Arad should be selected if it is better in Accuracy and reliability compared to CAR-816.
