They will get CAR-816 imported, but I would pitch Arad because it is lighter than CAR-816, has an 11.5” barrel, and has a high rate of fire.
Weight is similar.. apart from that balance of rifle weight is also important. This rifle derivative was preferred over HK 433.

For 5.56 NATO round recoil won't be an issue. They can also use muzzle break.
I think we should proceed with carbine deal and wait for sometime to see which rifle USA chose.

They are pouring millions of dollar in the research let them experiment once done adopt 6.8 round with similar rifle.

Or bring a SCAR copy or AK - 107 kind of recoil balancer.

Watch this AK beauty

Given the recent announcement of Modi and Rajnath regarding indegeneous weapon purchase, giving some projects to private sector and next import negative list in March, it may well be one he case that any of the OFB offerings can be selected for 93K carbine tender, which may be manufactured by OFB/Bharat Forge jointly.

Army hasn't even shown 1% interest in Indian carbines. Be it JVPC, be it CQB carbine or anything else. But one thing's for sure: 1 page RFI is out there to grab only CAR 816 and nothing else.
The scary part is: IA can completely ditch indeginous route by saying that CAR 816 fits all their needs and will re order CAR 816s putting both CQB and JVPC inside kachhda ka dabba.

If you see the poster of this Sig 550 style carbine from OFB closely, you will notice that the length of 800 mm and weight just below 3.3 kg is exactly what Army is demanding in this RFI relased on Feb 10.

In other words, the RFI is designed keeping this in mind.

This raises the chances of its selection. In addition, given the indegenous push by Government recently in Defence sector, and the hectic lobbying by DRDO/OFB this carbine may well be selected.

Neighther had they shown any interest in Arjun MBT. But Goverment had to force it down their throat in the name of Atmanirbhar in Defence. So there is a high chgance of Goverment intervention in this deal too.

Also JVPC recently passed trials, so it will be inducted som capacity, not in the 93K tender though.

It won’t, it just has a single rail at 12 o’clock on upper receiver of this carbine, Indian Army wants a quad rail system on the carbine.

JVPC is a PDW not a CQB Carbine.

That can be easily mounted with the help of screws, as per OFB officials in their interviews during Defence Expo 2020.

Don’t expect army to do any seperate mods, they have a habit of getting everything finished in single piece.

Yeah and they'll push forward with phoren carbines having quad rails but no optics, let alone other accessories. Johny Baba really speaks truth. Even small 3rd world country's army look better and are equipped better than ours.

I know, it makes me feel cringe that our soldiers are using SiG-716i without any accessories and they can easily teach our soldiers C-Clamp for efficient use of the rifle due to its full length rails.

Dude I have seen pur soldiers holding INSAS in Soviet manner(chicken position) which used to be common in WW2. Even their teachers teach them the same. C clamp is just 1 modern stance for recoil control. There are multiple other ways to fire with better follow up shots.

OFB are the guys whose guns will not even have the modularity of guns in the 80s they make some ak copies and tell everyone it is best in the world.every other defence product india makes is world class but our guns still are crappy as hell.if army opts for OFB carbines we are gonna get insas2.0 on the coming years reality is that OFB doesn't have any good imagination and when asken to make a gun just combines the design features of guns it makes like FAL Ak and creates ugly shit.OFB makes a ton of ak clones but when it come they went to ruskies and asked for ak203.I am an atmanirbharatha guy but to tell you the truth OFB is hopeless and will now create ak203 clones for the next 100 years

An SVD in 7.62x51 would be better as 7.62x51 has Better muzzle velocity and stopping power than a 7.62x54mmR idk why but it is...
Facts have a different perspective tho. At the end range, both have almost same velocity but being slightly bigger dia, penetration of 54R at higher ranges should be better than 51.
