Slap in face for piston fanboys who think DI is useless pleb stuff. Been saying for years that a good, well-made DI is no slouch and has its own advantages.

How much would a well made DI AR 15 patterned rifle cost?
Start here:

It can vary greatly depending on materials used, number made, etc.

Considering the civy price for the SIG 716 DI version is about 1400$ and they sold it to us for ~990$, and if similar discount is given to us by Daniel Defense HYPOTHETICALLY, we could expect them to sell it to us at 1200-1300$ for the amount we would buy, would actually be a really good price for a proven rifle as Caracal quoted about $1200 if Iโ€™m not wrong for the CAR 816 for us, being a largely unproven rifle.
The only downside dealing with smaller American companies would be ITAR and lack of willingness to make in India to keep with their made proudly in the USA theme.

It is difficult to estimate these prices when talking about such large bulk orders. It would boil down to an executive decision by the company - how much profit margin are they willing to concede for such a large order? How much market could be expect to tap following the order? How long a period are they willing to allow in order to recoup the lost margin via potential follow-on orders or after-sales service? What's the financial health of the company and does such margin-concession bode well for the company's short or medium-term outlook with regard to borrowing from lenders for expansion?

Like I said - an executive-level decision made keeping business interests & finances in mind. Hard to say for someone not sitting on the board of said company.

Considering the last carbine RFI said they wanted the gun length to be within 800mm, I think this would be a better fit.
Thanks for the info. @Gessler
