Indian troops hit a school van in a highly vulnerable border village in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) on Thursday, killing its driver on the spot, local officials said.

The van was bringing back at least four students from Mandhol to their homes in the Dharamsal area, where it was targeted by Indian troops at about 1:30pm, Assistant Commissioner of Hajira Sikandar Hayat told Dawn by telephone.

“Indian troops aimed at the vehicle with burst fire … and as a result, the driver lost his life on the spot,” he said. He identified the victim as Mohammad Sarfraz.

“The students sitting in the vehicle, however, miraculously escaped unhurt,” Hayat said.

They routinely hit our schools. It's time we pay back in the same kind.

This will continue for long time. As both sides r not ready to escalate next level. Pakis might try to push more terrorists to india to compensate their loss in LoC

Pakistan has lost 20 soldiers in 2018 after Indian Army's aggressive stance on LoC.

HIGHLIGHTS
akistan has lost as many as 20 soldiers in 2018 alone, and as many as seven more were critically injured in the fire assault which was launched by the Indian Army, sources told India Today.
Pictures shown to India Today reveal that the Indian Army has been targeting Pakistan posts and Pakistan Army facilities running as far as three km inside Pakistan.
Sources said India has adopted an aggressive stance. The Indian Army's retaliation is "unprecedented".
The Indian Army has noticed that terror launch pads in excess have been prevalent around the Line of Control - the de-facto boundary between India and Pakistan. The LoC has been witnessing activities since more than 400 terrorists are ready and waiting to infiltrate.
The Indian Army is specifically targeting Pakistani posts and facilities along the LoC.
"We don't want these terror launch pads to be activated" and they are receiving special attention of the forces. Field commanders have been given "adequate freedom" to decide upon the retaliation, sources said.
From pictures and details shared with India Today, it's clear that the India Army has launched major fire assaults in the Ballnoi area of Krishna Ghati, Mendhar, Bimber Galli sectors, in the past few weeks.
The Indian Army has also told the government that because of this aggressive stance, Pakistan has issued repeated red alerts to warn its posts, soldiers and local population who are collated with Pakistani installations along the LoC.
A minimum of 35 red alerts are estimated to have been issued by Pakistan since January 2018.
The Rawalpindi-based 10 Corps Commander of Pakistan has been actively visiting forward locations of the Pakistani ary to take stock of damage caused by the Indian armed forces
Earlier, the Chief of Army Staff General Bipin Rawat had shared with reporters in New Delhi that the army was no longer following the 2003 India-Pakistan Ceasefire agreement in letter and spirit.
"Terrorists are disposable commodities for the Pakistan Army, just hitting them won't yield results, we have to hurt the Pakistan Army," he had said.

Pakistan Summons Indian Diplomat Over 'Unprovoked Firing'
Pakistan's Foreign Office alleged that the Indian forces "deliberately targeted a school van carrying school children on Battal-Madharpur road, resulting in the death of the driver of the van, Sarfaraz Ahmed, leaving the school children severely traumatised."

Islamabad: Pakistan on Thursday summoned India's Deputy High Commissioner J P Singh in Islamabad to condemn the "unprovoked firing" by Indian troops across the Line of Control which resulted in the death of a driver of a van carrying school children.

Director General (South Asia and SAARC) Mohammad Faisal summoned Singh and "condemned the unprovoked ceasefire violations" by Indian forces, the Foreign Office said in a statement.

It alleged that the Indian forces "deliberately targeted a school van carrying school children on Battal-Madharpur road, resulting in the death of the driver of the van, Sarfaraz Ahmed, leaving the school children severely traumatised."

Faisal said despite calls for restraint, India "continues to indulge in LoC firing".

In 2018, the Indian forces have carried out more than 335 ceasefire violations along the Line of Control and the Working Boundary, resulting in the deaths of 14 civilians, he said.

He said this unprecedented escalation in ceasefire violations by India is continuing from the year 2017 when the Indian forces committed more than 1970 ceasefire violations.

"The deliberate targeting of civilian populated areas is indeed deplorable and against the human dignity, international human rights and humanitarian laws. The ceasefire violations by India are a threat to regional peace and security and may lead to a strategic miscalculation," he asserted.

Faisal urged the Indian side to respect the 2003 ceasefire arrangement and investigate the repeated incidents of ceasefire violations, the statement said.

He also urged the Indian side to allow the UN Military

Observer Group in India and Pakistan (UNMOGIP) to play its mandated role as per the UN Security Council resolutions.

India maintains that UNMOGIP has outlived its utility and is irrelevant after the Simla Agreement and the consequent establishment of the Line of Control.

When asked about frequent summoning of Indian deputy high commissioner over LoC violations, Faisal said it was part of "responsibility of Pakistan to effectively and emphatically defend its borders, be they physical, diplomatic, political or intellectual."

On February 5, Singh was summoned to the Foreign Office.

In January, the Foreign Office summoned India's deputy high commissioner on January 15, 18, 19, 20 and 21.

aka indirectly WAR has been declared on Pakistan. Its only a matter of few months before we move in.

Those red alerts, additional Mujahideen battalions and the sorties over POK by PAF. Porkies are worried that India will try to capture territory.
