I think there is a need for vertical and horizontle escalation , Pakistan seems not to learn from the hammering it got last year . They don't care If we cause 10-20 casualties on Pak army , so we need to up the ante. Attacking with larger calibre weapons seems to be the option remaining.

Bhai Indian Army has got freedom to retaliate now by going into Pakistan held Kashmir and take revenge openly. This openness was missing in earlier regime. UPA neglected arms procurement for 10 years. Modi spearheaded the process. Indian Army needs indigenous arms in large quantities before a decisive action. Modi is working on it.

Army will escalate do not worry. After all its not just politicians who decide. Army should also be advising them. We never know what is going on. There was a article posted when govt decided to avenge 2013 and got main person killed in POK. We would have never know without Bharat Rashak. Also govt has not held back the army. Tell me when they said not to escalate beyond a point. If this is true then govt is to blame. Right now its army who has free hand and will call the shots. Yes Modi can ask for more but there are several factors which will decide. I also want porkies to be hit harder casualties in 1000s not 10s but we do not know the inside things sitting here
