Real footage: China massacred 64 people with 37mm anti-aircraft guns

On the occasion of celebrating the Chinese Navy 60th anniversary, a short clip that was taken by the Chinese navy in 1988 has been publicized by her state medien. It shows the actions of the Chinese navy in combat as the so called “self-defence” and conceals the reality of a massacre :
64 innocent Vietnamese people were killed by 37mm anti-craft guns from Chinese warships in a few seconds.

The guys should have gone into the islands with means to fire back on to the ship and sink it.

PR of China never rests back on its territorial ambitions and claims.

They will do the same again with out thinking twice about it.

I would like to express my doubt about the autientication of such Video, since it only gives images in the form of Powerpoint and not a a real video. I do aware about Maritime confilct between china and vitenam, but haven't come across about any of such thing. Better, somebody post some more valid link to substantiate such video.

the conflict happened in 1987. at that time CHina and Vientam all sent troop to disputed "spraltely Islands" and wanted to occupied them.

WHen both trooped encounted in a island called "Chigua reef", such a conflicts broked out.

In fact, both Vietnamese and Chinese in the footage were all soliers.

and it was indeed Vietnamese that "fired first"... of course, it may be indeed a just “fire accidentally" according to the following investigation.

But obviously CHinese has much better preparation, their warship were also much bigger and powerful than Vietnamese.

well ,how much do you konw about sino-viet conflict?:2guns:

in 1980s, China had 8 military regions(MR).

in fact, any of 8 MRs was enough to deal with Vietnam, but at that time, Chinese top leader Deng didn't want to upgrade the conflit and wanted to give every MR to have chance to take part in real war.

So Deng decided that the 8 MR should burden the defence of sino-viet bounday alternately ;

For exmple, in 1980, it was Guangzhou MR that sent troops to fight vietnamese.
in 1981,it was the turn of Chengdu MR. then the troops of Guangzhou MR all retreated and Chengdu MR sent troops to take over the postion.
in 1982, it maybe the turn of Nanjin MR,then Nanjing MR sent troop to take over the postion of Chengdu MR and the troop of Chengdu MR all retreated .
when all 8 MR finished their turn, it was already 1988 .
During the whole 1980s, Vietnam had to keep 1 million+ sodilers, just to "defeat any invasion from north" . high defence budget make Vietnam miss the chance of industrialization. When Vietnam woke up in 1988, CHina's economy had already be 1 decade ahead of Vietnam.

In China, such a plan is called "两山轮训”(Alternate Training in sino-viet boundary)

First of all, you've said nine days. It was 45 days of fighting. Secondly, while the Vietnamese would like to attribute all the deaths to direct Chinese action, the sad fact is that most of these deaths happened during the fight for the provincial capitals, meaning house-to-house, room-to-room fighting. As course of such combat, the Vietnamese are also responsible for civilian casualties.

Lastly, I don't know how you can claim China lost when all OPOBJs were achieved.

The PRC, now under Deng Xiaoping, was growing increasingly defiant, and Deng Xiaoping was speaking to American president Jimmy Carter during Deng's brief visit to the USA: "It's time to smack the bottom of unruly little children" (original Chinese words: 小朋友不聴話,該打打屁股了)
the Causi bille said by the PRC "The reason cited for the counter strike was the supposed mistreatment of Vietnam's ethnic Chinese minority and the Vietnamese occupation of the Spratly Islands (claimed by the PRC)."

Vietnamese Forces
Many of Vietnam's elite troops were in Cambodia keeping a tight grip on its newly occupied territory. The Vietnamese government claimed they left only a force of about 70,000 including several army regular divisions and divisions of the Public Security Army (the Vietnamese equivalent of border guards) in its northern area. However, the Chinese claimed to have encountered twice this number. This concept of using local militias to fight the enemy has been a staple of Vietnamese defense strategy since antiquity. The PLA managed to advance about twenty five kilometres into Vietnam, with fighting mainly occurring in the provinces of Cao Bang, Lao Cai and Lang Son. On March 6, the Chinese occupied the city of Lang Son. They claimed the gate to Hanoi was open, declared their punitive mission achieved, and withdrew.

Sensationalism does not make your case, especially factually incorrect sensationalism. NATO was never in Vietnam.

Tactically, the Vietnamese gave the Chinese a whopping buit operationally and strategically, the Chinese came out ahead.

The only thing non-elite about the Vietnamese defenders is that they weren't wearing the right cap badges. A lot were veterans from being in south Vietnam and the fighting was both tenacious and determined.

Plus, they were ready. They had six months to prepare. The regular Vietnamese soldier has nothing to complain about. Their leadership, however, don't believe in real time command.
