The thing is it will become same as High operational cost and maintenance cost like BMP..Kunal, I think the Bionix AFV would be a decent choice for IA given its versatility as is exploited by the SAF.
The mortar is gud, Its automatic high rate of fire, If mounted on some 4X4 like i posted will give a edge over Normal Motars..Plus, coupled with 120 mm SRAMS, the world's first recoiled mortar to incorporate a blast diffuser, the MTC can provide an awesome firepower for longer periods of time with a high level of accuracy as it comes automatic fire control system.
Sir, I think both are needed for specific conditions..A Feasibility Study on the Chief of Staff of the Army's Transformation Plan

It does not mean that it is the answer or not.
I think it would fit in with most of India's requirements - not only the IA, but also the paramilitary forces can use it. DRDO can also do a tie-up to modify the Ocelot to arm it with a auto-fire cannon or a HMG.Ocelot Light Armored Vehicle
Force Protection Europe (FPE) and Ricardo, Inc., the US subsidiary of racing specialist Ricardo plc, have teamed to develop a compact and versatile light armored, mine-protected vehicle designed for off-road operations. The vehicle dubbed 'Ocelot', was launched at a unique collaboration between Ricardo and Force Protection Europe. The Ocelot addresses the new category of Light Protected Patrol Vehicle (LPPV) concept, by offering high levels of protection, mobility and configuration versatility. FPE is the UK subsidiary of Force Protection International, the manufacturer of the Cougar Mine Resistant Ambush Protected (MRAP) vehicle, and its Mastiff and Ridgeback derivatives operated by the UK.
DRDO Experience:
Its a fact that DRDO did manufacture such vehicle and showed in 2004 DEFEXPO..
DEFEXPO 2004 - Part 1
As it seems DRDO have knowledge and experience of making such vehicle this task can be complete in time line or before..
Also do note OFB makes lots of wepions which simple needed to be mounted in such vehicles which includes:
1. BMP turret ( IFV/APC variant ) on this vehicle like on BMP2
2. Command and control developed by DRDO can be installed in this vehicle Like on BMP2
3. ATGM mode we can mount NAG atgm MODULE like on BMP2
4. 120/82mm Motar can be mounted like on BMP2
Members give your Opinions..
sry I got confused with the 6X6Something like Fuchs. Pardon me if i used that term incorrectly.
Thats a good vehicle too, But it must be amphibious and have room for motar and MGS and a BMP-2 turret may be in different variants..COOL ! guess MOD ll go for the foreign IFV instead of Indian indigenous .... Also check M!!& (M1117 Armored Security Vehicle - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia)
I hear its not possible. When considering a 4X4 maximum weight that can be loaded is ~ 14 tons .. more than that its not practical.Thats a good vehicle too, But it must be amphibious and have room for motar and MGS and a BMP-2 turret may be in different variants..
never knew why IA never had a look at it. Could be used in all terrains from deserts to mountainsAnd the Bronco ATTC can be used as support vehicles:
It can double up as troop carrier, command vehicle, repair and recovery and as an ambulance. It can traverse on any difficult terrain with ease and because of its size it can be used even in mountainous regions.

You can see post no #50, It have to be amphibious as i said we are going to use them in 1000s more than BMP-2s, It have to be reliable, cheap to operate, And capability to go anywhere including ladak and Arunachal narrow roads, Their should be one type of chassis for multiple roles, We cannot effort to have a big vehicle..I hear its not possible. When considering a 4X4 maximum weight that can be loaded is ~ 14 tons .. more than that its not practical. In such cases we can stretch to 6X6 or 8X8 . 8X8 existed for a long time ranging from the OT-64 SKOTs. They also have the additional advantage of being all terrain.
IA use BMP-2 mortar carrier..never knew why IA never had a look at it. Could be used in all terrains from deserts to mountains
M1117 is very heavy at nearly 17-18 tons.COOL ! guess MOD ll go for the foreign IFV instead of Indian indigenous .... Also check M!!& (M1117 Armored Security Vehicle - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia)
Indian forces considered MPV better than a simple armoud vehicle..Whatever happened to the DRDO project with regards to the pic above ? It seems like a pretty lightweight version.M1117 is very heavy at nearly 17-18 tons.By the way, Kunal what you are saying, I think it will be difficult to have a light weight vehicle below 10 tons with 30 mm or 40 mm cannon. Smoke/Grenade launchers and 0.50 caliber machine guns are ok, but a cannon equipped vehicle won't be possible easily in the 5-10 tonne category light armored vehicle.
NO, it weighs only 13 tons. besides it can be air dropped, the shape and design of the armor gives it better protection against RPGs, shrapnel etc...Whatever happened to the DRDO project with regards to the pic above ? It seems like a pretty lightweight version.
