The main problem I see the afflicts these poor farmers is drought, loan sharks and so (based on what I've read).

I seriously think that India should come up with a National Water and Wastewater Management Policy, to help not only the farmers during the drought, but also improve living standards in both the urban and rural areas.

Giving in to drought should not be tolerated, especially these since an artificial water catchment area, or a water tower can be build to supply water during the drought. It will also bring about changes in how Farmers farm their land - with a little help from modern agricultural equipment. And yet it still puzzles me that politician could not solve this years ago.

As for the loan sharks, wouldn't the availability of microfinancing be better for these farmers?
