I was serious. They are looking for a medium thrust engine of the Kaveri class.

I think I read this requirement from the Korean media when I was looking for information regarding KF-X.

It looks like they plan on sending RFPs to "all" medium thrust engine houses, including GTRE.

Will it be ready by that time ?

It depends on how much thrust they require. They are yet to send out RFPs so they may hold out on the engine just like the Russians have for PAKFA. So, they might fly their aircraft with GE made engines in the interim.

The K-9+ will be achieved faster than K-10. GTRE says that they will have the K-10 ready for flight testing in 4 to 5 years after a DP is chosen. But selecting the DP will take time. They sent out RFP only this year.

Anyway Kaveri is a long shot for the KF-X program since other engine houses have more mature designs.
