Wow.....

I thought Chinese invented it.

And it was invented it some 3000 years ago. Remember going through a documentary where they even had planned to go to moon through the rocket powered by gunpowder.

Well, this is a pleasant surprise to me.
I had the same impression. Actually people around the world still think Chinese invented.

Moodiji is mum while lakhs of jobs are cut due to judicial over reach!
It's not merely judicial overreach, it's judiciary run amok. However, what exactly can GoI do? Pass an ordinance that'll be nullified by the courts once again.

In the current setup, wherein the judiciary can read into the constitution whatever they want, there's no stopping the milords.

GoI supported the stand to ban crackers. Plus did not file review petition. Plus Moodiji is mum!!

If you don't armtwist the judiciary, they will armtwist you.

How did GoI support it? Some idiotic BJP people did, while others opposed it. Where is GoI's stand formally reflected?

The courts did not entertain any review petitions, strange since they can open the court at 3 AM for a terrorist.

How does one arm twist the judiciary? Stall appointments. That only excuses their lethargy. What else?

One of the parties supporting the plea on the ban on firecrackers before the Court, along with petitioner Arjun Gopal, was the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB). The September 12 order was passed after hearing all parties, and the court had remarked that a graded approach was needed to be taken to curb pollution caused by fireworks. Since the CPCB was already opposed to the lifting of the ban, and given that farmers in northern India have already started burning stubble due to lack of alternative ways for its disposal, which is likely to lead to massive smog conditions in the capital; it may be assumed that the court in its own prudence stepped up to try and control the severe rise in pollution and environmental degradation in the National Capital Region.

A fair inference can be drawn that the executive (through the CPCB) was in favour but lacked the resources to enforce a protective measure at a short notice. It is at this point that the SC merely gave a helping hand to protect citizens and ensured their right to experience a better environment; albeit for a short duration of about a month.

- CPCB falls under govt (http://cpcb.nic.in/Members_Board.php)

- Some ministers supported ban (Harshvardhan- Ministry of environment, climate change bla bla)

- None from the top opposed ban

Now tell me what more evidence do you need?

Modi knows about "anti-incumbency" against liberalism-elitism in our nation's top ,ppl anyway gonna violet this and shows CJI/SC that days of self-hate/inferiority complex is over....
And for larger goal towards cleaning of society from commie-liberal rats ,it's us who have to stand against these stupid "circulars"...we can't always get Modi leader , it's miracle that in the environment of anti-tradition/anti-Hinduism a "modi" in in our nation's hot seat...and it's enough justice by god towards our nation where socall "majority" ,who can't help themselves and want savior everytime .

Modi remain silent because we Hindus now have to fight for our rights now , is there any guarantee that there would be any Modi in future to spoon-fed us our right...Hindus need to mature and need to realize that a 70 year old establish environment of anti-indianess might not allow him work as freely as we want....so we ,for now and for future need to show these orders middle-finger and organize diwali with cracker in same intensity in which dahi-handi/jalikattu movement gone so far

Traders are already blaming Government for the ban. This is 5D chess by the left, get crackers banned and then cry crocodile tears for poor workers and businesses.
But I don't see such news in Scroll/Wire ....it's rather pro-cultural right sites who are everywhere backing cracker traders

The CPCB was taken to task for not studying impact of crackers. They could hardly say no to anything SC did, since they had no data.
Supreme Court 'disturbed' by Central Pollution Control Board not studying fire crackers' impact

Is there any formal statement by the go

The CPCB has not studied the impact of crackers in pollution as instructed. They can't have an informed position, neither could the SC. It's just an experiment. How does a pollution control oppose that?

The opposition should have come from other quarters in the government. It did not save for Tripura governor and folks in MP government. That can be tacit support or simply not wishing to getting into a tussle with SC on a silly order that will likely be ignored.

Again, how do you arm twist the judiciary?

Wow this is still on. Pollution is the most pathetic excuse. It's downright retarded thinking in so many levels. Not even worth replying to.
