any update ..its long time ..no update
hope next surgical strike will be done by rustom

@TPFscopes
1st: Rustom-2 is designed for surveillance and reconnaissance purposes but there may be armed version after successful induction.
2nd: TAPAS 201/Rustom-2 is still in development phase and we may expect the some flights of 2nd prototype soon.

I'm on bed rest from past few weeks that is why unable to explore ground zero updates.

look carefully

there are 2 controller stations at 12 o clock , you can see the control stick on the the left controller station and another one on the right controller station, the middle console i believe is related to weapon control and fire , they have it for the UCAV version of rustom when it comes online

rest are data/imagery exploitation stations and the cabinet on the extreme right with 3 small colored console is related to data link

and there is no hard and fast rule as to the no of stations that can be employed , it depends on the developer and their goals/requirements

here is a zoomed pic , see for yourself

yeah that's what I meant. Will it have SAR and other payload this time?
Can't confirm but it is expected fir 2nd prototype to have ELINT, COMINT and SAR as basic testing. And next for long range Electro-optical payloads followed with maritime patrol radar (MPR)

They are supposed to make about 10 prototypes and one of them is twin boom single engine configuration. Maybe you could tell us something we don't know happening behind the curtains .
For TAPAS-201 project, there is no plan for single engine-twin boom configuration.and there is plan for 4 test prototypes and 5th final prototype.

I recently recovered (after 2.5 months) from viral fever.. , hence too much busy... Right now, focused on LCA...

In this seminar at Aero India 2017 APVS Prasad of ADE on "Challenges in Design and Development of MALE UAV TAPAS - 201" clearly mentioned 9-10 prototype and twin boom single engine configuration.

it's a very informative video guyz don't miss it

I am glad you are fine now.

Army eyes 60 high-end drones

With an eye on ramping up surveillance capabilities, the Indian Army is looking to purchase 60 specialised unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV) that can stay in the air for 10 hours at a stretch, transmitting live images and videos to ground-based controllers.

These will be useful in tracking movements along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) with China, strengthening surveillance along the Line of Control (LoC) with Pakistan, in counter-terrorism grid and key operational areas of Corps mandated in plains and deserts.

The Army today issued a request for information (RFI) — the first step for purchase — and said the UAV should be developed and manufactured locally. Only Indian companies can bid and the Army wants these inducted within two years of signing a contract.

The project will be based on proven or matured technologies where fundamental research is not required. The development and manufacture of the equipment may also be undertaken by the Indian industry, the Army demand says.

The intended use is for day and night aerial surveillance of a large area over a sustained period. The UAV should be able to fly up to 20,000 feet, broadly covering all areas along the Himalayas, within a radius of 200 km from the ground station for minimum 10 hours.

The UAV must have electro-optical and infra red (IR) capacities with the ability to listen in to communications. It must also have a synthetic aperture radar (SAR) for imagery during adverse weather conditions and a maritime patrol radar (MPR). During flight, it should be able to identify a “friend or foe”, the requirement says.

#RustomII successfully completed 10 design validations flights from ATR. It is almost in the process of reaching highest altitude range as well as endurance. Work is also in progress to enhance the capacity of its engine to enhance its payload capacity.

Here's the confirmation.
