Why can't they add a better data link? You can surely hook it up to a satellite link enhancing the ability to control it for a range of the craft.

For that, SATCOM is needed, and CRPF is a paramilitary, not army, they will not operate it outside India.

Without SATCOM it is limited to line of sight to the control station due to the curvature of the Earth.

Rustom 1 was supposed to be technology demonstrator for Rustom 2.

This was as on 3 years back, donno if this strategy has changed.

DRDO successfully flew its Rustom 2 today at its Aeronautical Test Range (ATR) at Chalakere at Chitradurga. This flight assumes significance due to the fact that this is the first flight in user configuration with higher power engine. All parameters were normal. Secretary Deptt. of Defence (R&D) & Chairman DRDO Dr. S. Christopher, Director General of Aeronautical System Dr. CP Ramanarayanan, DG Electronics & Communication Systems Ms. J Manjula along with senior scientists witnessed the flight and congratulated Rustom team.

Wasn’t there a visible antenna(similar to Israeli drones) on top of Rustom 2 last year. That big antenna is missing this year is it?

I don't remember seeing any Heron type antenna on Rustom.

Can this be weaponized ?? or it can be just used for surveillance only ?? i can see three hard points on each wing ...Even Iran was able to reverse engineer the raytheon Drone and used it in Israel this month we are still trying in snail pace ....

For me, even more good news is the Challakere being in usage.

If you remember pre-2014, how NGOs tried their level best to ensure this place is never opens for R&D. Now we know why?
