We are not dealing with taliban type enemies whose leaders are in hiding places which requires a cover air strike without any human casualties, our adversaries have well equipped military, armed drones are target practice for them.
More than attack we need recon drones and infrastructure. All our services are in desparate need of ISTAR platform

WTF? Why? As long as signal latency you get is within design limits, there should be no reason why you would need a ground station. What is the point of SATCOM if you end up needing a ground station anyway? Maybe I am misuderstanding you, but that is not how SATCOM drones work. American drone pilots sit back in USA and take out targets in Afghanistan.
Just a simple question for you.

Tell me one LEO sat which covers the Western and Eastern hemisphere at the same time? Leave alone LEO, tell me one GSO sat which have this capability.

Exactly. And also people often forgot that we are not america and our military don't have a budget like us military that we can put hundreds of satelite in space if we want

After 4-5 days of combat, when AD of pak is completely down, drones will be clutch. Sitting in delhi we can hit armour in sindh. No pilot fatigue issues, threat to pilots life, and no wasting a platform as expensive as a sukhoi to fire dumb bombs for taking out infantry.

Well if we have recon drones in good numbers then the suicide drones should do the job of destruction if reliable recon data is fed into them.

Still thinking of Porkis? It is over for them for some time. The real adversary is China. Focus on them and get our technologies to world beating standards. Our focus should be to build a broad and deep MIC.

This was one year old post of mine..... My opinion on big non stealthy drones has changed a lot since then, mostly because of the ongoing war. Id say use big drones for ISR during peace, and tactical drones for strikes in war.

INDIA TO ACQUIRE 97 'MADE-IN-INDIA' DRONES FOR OVER RS 10,000 CRORE TO KEEP AN EYE ON CHINA, PAK BORDERS
New Delhi:
Indian Defence forces are set to acquire 97 'Made-in-India' drones for surveillance purposes along China and Pakistan borders, government sources on Monday said.

After the decision to buy 31 Predator drones from US, India is now moving towards acquiring 97 highly capable drones under the 'Make-in-India' project.

"A scientific study was carried out by the defence forces jointly and it has been decided that to meet the Medium Altitude Long Endurance requirements, Indian forces would require 97 such drones for keeping an eye on both land and sea," government sources said.

According to government sources the lead service for Thai over Rs 10,000 crore procurement of these drones would be the Indian Air Force as they also be getting the highest number of these unmanned aerial vehicles which would be able to fly for close to 30 hours at a stretch.

The drones to be acquired by the forces would be in addition to the exiting fleet of over 46 Heron UAVs acquired by the three forces over the years in their respective fleets.

The drones which are already in service are going to be upgraded by the Hindustan Aeronautics Limited in partnership with the original equipment manufacturers through the 'Make-in-India' route where they will have to upgrade their capabilities within the country using over 60 percent Indian content.

India recently decided to acquire the 31 Predator drones which are in the High Altitude Long Endurance category and would be used for surveillance of vast areas of Indian interest.

source based news
=====
As per reliable govt sources, the #Rustom2 #R2 #TAPAS programme has been closed in Mission Mode as it fell short of the PSQR set by users. However, sources confirm that the govt has given the go-ahead for the development of this MALE UAV project under separate DRDO funds. ADE has been told to meet the main specs set by the users -- endurance of 24 hours and altitude of 30,000 feet. ADE must get back after achieving these two targets. Best wishes to Team R2 and hope they would bounce back soon
