Russia to produce T-95 tanks, Mig-35 fighter jets

Moscow: Russia will begin the serial production of its new state-of-the-art weapons which include a new Main Battle Tank T-95 and a multi-role fighter jet Mig-35, as the country braces to compete for a share in the global arms market, with India being a potential buyer.

"The specifications of new main battle tank T-95, to be serially produced from 2010, are being tightly kept under the warps of secrecy," defence expert Igor Korotchenko told state-run Vesti FM radio.

"However, judging from the reports it would provide better survivability for the tank crew in the battle field, which will sit in an armoured capsule inside the T-95 MBT," Korotchenko said.

lets buy both T 95 and mig 35
I read somewhere that T95 will have a targetting range between 6000 and 7000 metres ie the highest range till today for any tank.

Kind of hard to have a targetting range 6-7km when the horizon only allows 5-5.5km.

not sure but may be with a missile on.
Arjun tank can fire Lahat with a range of 8km.
It can only fire that far with indirect targetting. That is why it is semi-active laser.

here is an interesting piece on Lahat -

LAHAT can be designated by the firing tank or by an indirect designation, by another tank, helicopter or forward observers.
but since target designation is required only for the final phase of the flight, the tank can fire the LAHAT from hidden position or use remote designation for maximum protection.
The LAHAT missile has a range of 8 km when launched from a ground platform, and up to 13 km, when deployed from high elevation. The missile hits the target at an accuracy of 0.7meter CEP and an angle of over 30 degrees, providing effective penetration of up to 800mm of armor steel by the high performance warhead.

LAHAT can be designated by the firing tank
Sure it can, but only at 5-5.5km range. You can't defy the laws of horizon LOS.

Do you know what line of sight is?

Do you know a laser can only track LOS?

Do you know your horizon limits LOS?

it won't be that far.
right. LOS is required. read the above quotes from the link i provided or read the link fully -

but since target designation is required only for the final phase of the flight, the tank can fire the LAHAT from hidden position or use remote designation for maximum protection.
even a firing tank can designate the target. if it can't maintain LOS, it will be provided by the other tanks, helis etc in an indirect way.

The earth is curved, not flat.
right but for 5-8 kms? it is more like flat.

Without a second ID platform or height advantage,
depends also on the topography of the battle. if the target is at height???

however fired from elevation, with height advantage the range increases to 13 km. :D

Not much in favour of the Mig-35 as yet, but yeah, I agree with you when you say that we should go for the T-95. Probably, one of the best tanks there is !!

Thanks for pointing out ! I meant will be one of the best whenever it enters active service !
it will be definatly one of the best in the World.
but can we upgrade some of the best technologies of T-95 into our Indian T-90's.
like 155mm gun, 1000 or 1200hp engine etc..........

You already have 1000hp engine and 155mm gun is not practical for MBT applications.

Russia's new main battle tank to enter service 'after 2010'

The new-generation MBT, which still does not have a designation, will feature better firepower, maneuverability, electronics and armor protection than the T-90 MBT.
Its speed will increase from 30-50 kph to 50-65 kph (19-31 mph to 31-40 mph).
According to some sources, the new tank may be equipped with a 152-mm smoothbore gun capable of firing guided missiles with a range of 6,000-7,000 meters.
In comparison, the T-90 MBT has a 125-mm 2A46M smoothbore gun, which can fire AT-11 Sniper anti-tank guided missiles with a range of 4,000 meters.

Just as long as we're still talking about the implications of the massive 152mm main gun the T-95 is supposed to have i just found this picture of an american heavy tank prototype from WW2 , this baby had a 155mm gun;
The T30 Heavy Tank was an American tank project developed to counter new German tanks. The T30 was designed at same time as the T29. Pilot models were started in April 1945 and were delivered in 1947. The 155 mm fired 2 piece (shell and charge) ammunition. The loader was helped by a powered rammer. A variant of the tank designated T30E1 features an additional hatch at the back of the turret for ejecting the shell casings. Another variant of the tank is the T30E2.
