The delimitation of the Barents Sea will deprive Russia of access to huge oil and gas resources in the region, a veteran in the Murmansk oil industry says.
Nikolay Bogdanov, a former senior engineer in the Arktikmorneftegazrazvedka company, maintains that Russia now will lose access to huge resources in the Fedinsky High field. The deal must be considered treason against national interests, he maintains.
According to Bogdanov the field contains up to nine billion tons of oil equivalents, Regnum reports. It is a 70 km wide structure and can be developed as 12 separate fields, three of which are "gigantic" and four "very big", he told the news agency.
