Tupolev-142 is used for recon, I presume? Now, my question is, were these ISIS bombed after this incident?

Donno for sure if they were bombed...
These Tu-142 participate in Navy patrol in Mediterrenian to detect and track Turkish and NATO fleets. They don't recon ISIS targets in Syria.

2 Russian pilots killed as ISIS shoots down chopper near Palmyra – MoD

Islamic State militants have downed a military helicopter near Palmyra, Syria, killing two Russian pilots on board. The helicopter had been attacking the advancing terrorists at Damascus’ request when it was taken down, according to the Russian defense ministry.
On July 8, Russian military pilot-instructors Evgeny Dolgin and Ryafagat Khabibulin, were conducting a calibration flight on a Syrian Mi-25 (export version of the Mi-24) helicopter loaded with ammunition in the province of Homs,” the official statement from the Ministry of Defense reads.
The crew received a request from the Syrian command group to help defeat the advancing terrorists and fire for effect. The captain of the aircraft, Ryafagat Khabibulin, made the decision to attack.”
The Ministry of Defense stated that due to the skillful actions of the crew the terrorists were thrown back and the attack had been thwarted.
According to reports, terrorists used the American TOW system to down the helicopter, which, having exhausted its ammunition, was on the course back to the base at an extremely low altitude,” the source is quoted as saying.
Friday’s tragedy puts the number of Russian military casualties in Syria at 10.

@pmaitra :
Did Turkey really patch up with Russia or just a bluff?

How does this affect the Syria situation considering Turkey close ISIS relation?

Erdoghan has just apologised but has not paid satisfactions and has not put Chelik on castody.
Any way, the time when anybody can became a friend of Russia at once and then betray it are gone.
Turkey must work hard to regain the things lost in the incident.

Consider it a bluff or a fair-weather patch up. Erdogan is feeling the heat, with the Russians having destroyed the ISIS oil convoys, Russian sanctions, lack of Russian, lack of European tourists, ISIS attacks, Kurdish attacks, and European opposition to his stifling of free speech, he wants to ameliorate the harsh conditions facing his nation today.

I wouldn't trust him for one moment.

I remember a comment I had made in the Ukraine thread:

The chocolate seller's achievements:
Котёл #1: Illovayisk -> Minsk 1
Котёл #2: Debaltsevo -> Minsk 2
Looks like on ground the Kiev regime is losing battle after battle, while all their brave warriors are in Odessa and Finland. :rofl:
Well, now you have Котёл #3: Aleppo

Well, now you have Котёл #4: Damascus

@Akim, remember this post? BTW, @Razor, looks like the "moderates" will either have to stay in the boilers and starve, or try to escape and get pummeled.

This Mi-35
Also I have big doubts that he was shot down.from the ground.
They were piloting Syrian Mi-25 (Mi-24D export version) to fire-test it after repair and augmentation. Mi-25 has no defence suits onboard. It could be shot from the ground, but technical issue is also possible.

If you will go and check VKS helos trials and trainings videos of Mi-24P and Ka-52 (both have retracable undercarriage) you'll see they strafe to targets with carriage hidden and then, when they are in the target area, they release their gear before attack maneuvers. It has caused much wondering in the aviation amatours societies why it is so. Torzhok Training Center pilots have explained this as low altitude maneuvering safety measures as undercarriage will take a lot of chock energy itself if helo will crash to the ground.

As for this particular video - it is very unclear and poor quality, so we cannot see the particular helo modification. It can be Mi-25 or Mi-35 (Mi-24V export version) and also a Mi-35M (Mi-24VP). It can be a technical issue, but it was a small fire splash in the tailbooms area near the stearing propeller reductor. So it can be a fire damage. A second helo on this video is Mi-24 for sure (Syrian Mi-25, even with Russian crew is also possible), cause it has its gear hidden.

Russian MOD have never lied, in difference from ISIS YouTube Channels. So, I prefer reliable sources.
RU MOD has said that Russian crew has piloted Mi-25 after repair, but received a distress call from Syrian forces. They have done several strikes and tried to go out after ammo depletion. Helo has been shot down on withdrawal course, which is classics since Afgan war. This video doesn't support but doesn't deny it either.

This video should be checked on YouTube metadata viewer/extractor to find out on what date and in which place it will taken (using geotag and timestamps). It is possible that this is taken in the right time and place, but different time and place (and different helos) are also possible.

To argue and prove useless to you. And not interesting. MOD Russia is the biggest liar. But you keep believing.
