TERCOM uses a pre-recorded contour map of the terrain that is compared with measurements made during flight by an on-board radar altimeter. The aerial vehicle still has an internal INS and will use GPS for error correction.

We will never know what Russia's response would of been if Ukraine refused to give up it nukes. I think it's safe to assume the response would not of been to do cave in and do nothing.

no this is just based on visual identification of features . probably from ordinary drone camera .

With current technology you can't differentiate Ukrainian T-72 from a Russian T-72.
IFF systems are not practical.
Direction of movement tracking is too error prone.

All drones are operated in spatially isolated regions where it is known their are no allied tanks operating with HITL.

Before drone is launched, its kill-box is defined. It has to be manually confirmed by human that their are no allied units of same time in the kill-box.

That makes sense. I know CAS pilots also use kill-boxes, so using them with drones would also increase effectiveness.

They renounced the nuclear weapons so that they don't inherit soviet era debt, which Russia took and paid heavily during 90s. The debt were finally rapid in 2017 by Russia.
Even though Ukraine started with a clean sheet it became the most corrupt inefficient state in Eastern Europe. It expected Russian to perpetually subsidise their economy while trying to be in bed with NATO.
