Russia Has Abandoned Its Massive Nuclear Destroyer And Supersized Frigate Programs

Both Project 23560 (18,000 ton Lider class cruiser) and 22350M (8000 ton Gorshkov class derivative heavy frigate) seem to be suspended due to financial inadequacy.

Main takeaways from my source answer post.

1. So far the only heavy stealth drone to fire weapons, can have the variety of carrying 4 internal glide bombs with 315 KG + payloads with ranges up to 120kms.

2. 6000km max range, suggests that it is well suited for deep strike missions than your average aircraft fighter.

3. 1 billion rubbles = 14,405,000.00 USD. But the final price when production hits would mean 14,405,000 times .60(40% - 100% of original price) and .50 we would get a potential price tag of 8,643,000 to 7,202,500 USD per drone.

To piss off a A-10 or F-16 fan talk about the air to ground capabilities of the F-35, to piss off a F-35 fan start comparing this drones air to ground role capabilities.

Three crew members died in the crash

A prototype military transport aircraft made by Russia’s Ilyushin has crashed during a test flight, killing three people who were on board. A video of the incident shows the plane’s right engine flaming out before the aircraft tilts to the side and crashes near the Kubinka airfield outside Moscow.

The new light military transport plane, Il-112V, crashed in a forested area as it was coming in for a landing at the Kubinka airfield about 45 kilometers west of Moscow, spokespeople of the corporation told the Tass news agency.

According to Russian news agency TASS, among those onboard was the Hero of the Russian Federation awardee Nikolai Kuimov. Kuimov had piloted the Il-112V during its first flight in 2019 as well.

Also on board was 1st-class test pilot Dmitry Komarov and 1st-class test flight engineer Nikolai Khludeyev, a spokesman for the UAC said.

"The fate of the crew is still unknown and rescue works are underway," the spokesman added.

Rescue work is currently underway.

The Il-112V was being designed to eventually replace Russia’s ageing An-26 transport aircraft. Russian officials had said the Il-112VE (an export variant of the plane) had been offered to India.

Two test pilots and a flight engineer were aboard the plane, and their fate is still unclear. A rescue operation is underway.

A video of the crash published online showed the plane flying at low altitude with one of its wings on fire, before making a sharp turn and plummeting to the ground.

The new light military transport plane, Il-112V, crashed in a forested area as it was coming in for a landing at the Kubinka airfield about 45 kilometers (28 miles) west of Moscow, spokesperson of Russia’s United Aircraft Corporation told the Associated Press.

United Aircraft Corporation is developing and testing the Il-112V as a replacement for the aging Antonov An-26.

The plane flew to the Moscow region last week and was set to be unveiled at the Army-2021 forum later this month. It is the first military transport plane developed in Russia from scratch since the Soviet Union collapsed.

Il-112V has turboprop engines and is designed to transport personnel, military equipment and weapons. It is capable of carrying up to 5 tons of cargo.

The plane’s first flight took place in March 2019, but it was reported to be too heavy and in need of improvements. Testing of Il-112V resumed only in March 2021.

Serial production of Il-112V is expected to begin in 2023 at the Voronezh Aviation Enterprise, which can produce up to 12 such planes a year.
