Regards,"Our support for the Resolution is in accordance with our support for the efforts by the Arab League for a peaceful resolution of the crisis through a Syrian-led inclusive political process," said India's permanent representative to the UN Hardeep Puri in a statement explaining the vote.
The west also want a sunni govt to break the Iran-syria shia alliance. It is not surprising that Jordan is trying to show great solidarity with the West.
There are two reasons for that.
1. The demography of Syria's population is 74% Sunni Muslim, and 16% other Muslim groups, including the Alawi, Shi'a, and Druze, and 10% Christian, with a very small Syrian Jewish community.
Therefore, there is no love lost if the Shia regime of Syria falls.
A Sunni Govt will come into place, which will be like-minded. It will be a victory for the Sunnis in the historical Shia - Sunni divide!
2. Jordan is a vassal of the West.
China is very pragmatic in her approach.Russia alone was enough to block the draft resolution but China still seconded with her veto, despite that Sunni dominated GCC (S.A. in particular) is the top oil supplier for China. The posturing was meaningful. Russia has to ensure a Syria even without al Assad is still on her side.
One has to also see the numbers killed by the Yemenis, Gaddafi, Mubarak, and a host of other Sunni leaders to include the Sudan satraps. No matter which way you look at it, 6000 people killed by govt. troopers and police forces within a year is not justified.
Assad shold have held multiparty elections as he had promised in September by now. His failure to hold free and fair elections is the main roadbloc. IF he has promised to hold elections, he should implement this asap.
The Russians and Chinese have to protect their interests. If the West wants regime change to place
their puppets in power why would Russia and China go along with it??

Im just curious...if usa were to occupy malayasia would you assist them ?China is surprising. It's a rising power yet it always take the wrong side of issues... Reminds me a lot of the USSR...
Let alone them...even the west the "bearers of freedom, democracy and human rights" didn't utter a single word when saudi army landed in bahrain and smashed the civilian protestors.Has anyone heard of condemnation of the killings by the so called Arab Muslim leaders of the Shias in Iraq and Bahrain?
Condemnation of sectarian convenience.
Total fraud and a hoax.
