Because a large majority were living off the liberal largesse given by the welfare State.

Cameron cut back on these instrument of their 'charmed' life.

They found themselves high and dry in so far as their pockets went and so they thought it was a better idea to satiate their high living lifestyle by merely helping themselves with the goodies from the shops without, of course, paying a penny!

They only did some 'window shopping'! Break a window and shop till your drop!!!!
I wonder what would happen if the US reaches an economic situation where it cannot provide Social security, particularly for the unemployed.
Surely the blacks there are more violent.

We all have minorities in our nations who can feel alienated or be violent, so no point blaming the minorities for everything.

Yeh, I saw this news clip, the student is Ashraf Haziq and the dude had no idea about the rioting, he just came to london 2 days ago . The more disgusting part is that some of the rioters in the garb of helping him up were looting things out of his backpack.

Just disgusting.

Indians united in this Little India - Hindustan Times

When it comes to the business of protecting business, there's no beating Indians. As cities across England faced the ferocious assault of rioters on Tuesday night, hundreds of Sikhs, Muslims and Hindus in the London suburb of Southall — known as Little India — banded together to protect of worship.

The action by ordinary members of the community — many of whom were armed with kirpans and hockey sticks — came after rioters targeted shops in suburban areas with large Indian-origin populations.

On Monday night, rioters smashed a jewellers shop window in Southall and looted an electrical goods store, owned by a Punjabi family, in nearby West Ealing — a leafy and prosperous neighbourhood that has been hit by widespread arson and looting.

Rumours swirled of an imminent attack on Southall — home to a thriving Indian-origin business community. "We picked up advance intelligence that the hooligans were planning to attack Southall jewellery shops," said Ranjit Dheer, deputy leader of Ealing Council, which includes Southall.

After a meeting of police, councillors, local MP Virendra Sharma and others were advised to shut down early at 4 pm.

"But people were not happy about closing shops so early," said Dheer, who is the councillor responsible for policing. "They said, 'If police can't protect us we will protect ourselves'."

With the police force clearly overstretched in trying to check rioting in hotspots in and around London, religious leaders in Southall were then roped in to help guard the neighbourhood and its business premises. Around 300 men kept a night-long vigil at the Sri Guru Singh Sabha gurdwara, Southall's largest.

Hundreds more stood guard at the largest mosque in the area, said Dheer.

-------------------------------------

Although news article just mentions Indians, there are plenty of reports that all desis including Pakistanis and Bangladeshis were working together to protect desi neighbourhoods.

The police is mainly protecting upscale neighborhoods with no protection to desi localities apparently.

I must appreciate UK police and courts effort to bring these landoors to justice. Yesterday all crown courts in London and sollihul near Birmingham were working till 4 clock in morning to convict these landoor.

and we still cleaning ass of kasab for 3 yrs now..
I will take this opportunity to say what i heard from retired judge in 'walk the talk'.

In India judges every day get more than 50 new cases while his counterpart in europe gets 3. And on top of that add shoddy investigations of police and witnesses changing there tune every month.

'Chaos' As Riot Suspects Pack England Courts

There have been "chaotic" scenes in magistrates' courts as hundreds of people are standing to face charges relating to looting and violence in cities across the country.

Courts in London have been working through the night in order to process the unprecedented number of people.

However, solicitor Julian Young told Sky News that the process was a "knee-jerk reaction" to the trouble and not properly planned.

"Lawyers were waiting hours for papers and then couldn't find their clients. Cases were delayed as we waited for files to be photocopied then the photocopier broke down, it was chaos.

"We need the courts to give justice to people rather than being bounced into a situation where they have to plead guilty or not guilty in a short space of time."

Proceedings are taking place in Westminster, Birmingham and Manchester.

Those who have appeared so far have come from a wide range of ages and backgrounds.

They include an 11-year-old boy, a millionaire's daughter, a teaching assistant and a lifeguard.

Natasha Reed, an aspiring social worker from Edmonton, admitted stealing a JVC television worth £299.99 from a Comet store on Saturday night.

Sky reporter Nick Martin, at Westminster Magistrates Court, said the 24-year-old held her head in her hands as she sat in the dock after having handed herself in on Wednesday.

Defending Andre Billington said: "She was arrested. She said she couldn't sleep thinking about what she had done."

Second-year university law student Marouane Rouhi, 21, was remanded in custody accused of being part of a 16-strong gang charged with violent disorder.

Another alleged member of the group is 18-year-old Sameer Shah - a school youth mentor aiming to prevent gun crime.

Solicitor Jim Kelly said Mr Rouhi was keen to clear his name so that he could continue to pursue his legal ambitions.

Meanwhile, in Nottingham, an 11-year-old girl was given a nine month referral order after being charged with criminal damage for smashing windows at a New Look store on Wednesday evening.

Top Cop Says Victim's Dad Helped Calm Riots

The Chief Constable of West Midlands Police, Chris Sims, has praised the father of one of the men allegedly murdered while trying to protect people from looters.

Mr Sims said he thinks words spoken by Mr Jahan on Wednesday helped to calm rising racial tensions in the city.

Tariq Jahan urged those involved in violence to "calm down" after his son and his two friends were murdered.

Haroon Jahan, 21, died alongside brothers Shazad Ali, 30 and Adbul Musavir, 31.

They were hit by a car on Dudley Road in the Winson Green area of Birmingham in the early hours of Wednesday morning.

Tariq Jahan urged people not to turn his son's murder into a 'race issue'

The men were killed in the same area that suffered riots involving clashes between groups of Asian and black youths in 2005.

"Today we stand here to plead with all the youth to remain calm (and) for our communities to stand united. This is not a race issue," Mr Jahan said on Wednesday.

"Blacks, Asians, whites - we all live in the same community. Why do we have to kill each other?

"I lost my son. Step forward if you want to lose your sons. Otherwise, calm down and go home."

Three murdered in Birmingham

"The intervention he felt able to make was one of the most powerful, generous and far-sighted that I think I have ever seen, at the moment of absolute grief and devastation," Mr Sims said.

"Anyone who heard them must have been moved.

"Anyone who felt there was any mileage from continuing a cycle of violence in the name of those young men who died must have thought twice about it.

"I think it was decisive in terms of Birmingham not suffering tension and violence between communities.

"Those words were powerful, heartfelt and spontaneous."

The three men died as they were reportedly protecting local businesses from looters

Mr Sims said there was still a lot of work to be done, but that communities could "build on the foundations" of Mr Jahan's words.

"They will only take root if people use them as the starting point and work to break down any sense of community tension," he added.

Today, Mr Jahan said to those involved in the violence: "You are not achieving anything.

"People are losing their livelihoods, their homes. I have lost my family.

"To parents - I say if you value your children, keep them at home.

"To the kids - if you are listening to a grey-bearded old fellow you have no respect for, then try to understand. When you are my age, you will look back at your lives and think how stupid you were."

England riots: 24-hour criminal justice system after riots

Several courts in England will stay open 24 hours a day to fast-track those already in custody for looting and disorder-related offences.

Magistrates in London, Manchester and Solihull were processing some of those arrested over riot-related incidents.

An 11-year-old girl and a primary school worker have already appeared in court. One man has been jailed for eight months for stealing clothes.

David Cameron said courts would continue to sit through the night.

The total number of people arrested over the riots stands at more than 1,300.

'Smirked in dock'

An 11-year-old girl has appeared in court in Nottingham and admitted damaging windows during a disturbance in the city centre.

A BBC reporter in court said she smirked in the dock as her father asked her to apologise to the district judge.

The girl told the court she realised she was in serious trouble but did not think she would be caught.

The girl, who finished primary school last month, was given a nine-month referral order.

In London, about 900 people have been arrested over violence, disorder and looting in London, and more than 370 have been charged, police said.

Primary school worker Alexis Bailey attempts to shield his face as he left court
The figures include two boys aged 17 and a man of 18, who were arrested over an arson attack which destroyed a Sony warehouse in Enfield, north London, on Monday.

A primary school worker is one of those who has already appeared before magistrates in the capital.

Alexis Bailey, 31, appeared at Highbury Magistrates' Court on Wednesday after he pleaded guilty to burglary with intent to steal.

Manchester Magistrates' Court has been operating throughout the night to process convictions and saw more than 110 people brought before it.

A 12-year-old boy pleaded guilty to stealing a bottle of wine from a Manchester supermarket during Tuesday night's disturbances.

He was given a nine-month referral order and ordered to pay £50 costs.

Among the first people jailed for their roles in the Manchester riots was a man sentenced to eight months for stealing clothes.

District judge

In Solihull, magistrates sat from 19:30 BST until 06:00 BST to fast-track people arrested during the disturbances to answer charges including burglary, arson, theft and violent disorder.

Ch Supt Phil Kay, of West Midlands Police, said working through the night was a first for Solihull.

He said it had given them the "opportunity to put before the courts the prisoners involved in the disorder in a really timely manner which helps speed up the judicial process".

Police have made more than 300 arrests since disturbances began in the West Midlands on Monday.

Overnight, 26 defendants, including six juveniles, appeared before magistrates in Solihull.

A total of 20 of those were now in prison having either been sentenced or pending follow-up court appearances, West Midlands Police said.

'Get a life'

Craig Cave, 26, of Burrows Avenue, Beeston, appeared at Nottingham Magistrates' Court, and was found guilty of obstructing police in Nottingham. He was fined £60.

A suspect is arrested by police in London
District judge Tim Devas told him: "Let me give you a piece of worldly advice.

"Get a life, sort yourself out. Don't you feel ashamed that you are now counted among the hundreds of yobbos arrested and now considered as scum by the public?"

Speaking in general to the court about sentences that were handed down, Judge Devas added: "If there are any criticisms of sentences handed down by the courts, if you want anyone to blame, then go and speak to the government.

"Do not blame the judges or the magistrates who do their jobs professionally and abide by the guidelines set down."

Violence began in Tottenham on Saturday after the fatal shooting by police of Mark Duggan.

David Cameron told MPs earlier in the Commons that courts in London, Manchester and the West Midlands would sit through the night for "as long as is necessary", to deal with the high number of people arrested for rioting in England.

He said anyone charged with violent disorder should expect to be remanded in custody.

Mr Cameron said: "We are making technology work for us by capturing the images of perpetrators on CCTV - so even if they have not yet been arrested, their faces are known and they will not escape the law."

In a time like this all Indians and Pakistanis should put aside their differences and stay united. The rioters are not asking who is Indian or who is Pakistani.

Students and estate agent tried to loot PC World, court hears

Saffron Armstrong, Kairo Lawson and Gassam Ojjeh, all 22, were said to have gone in search of electronic goods at a branch of PC World that had been targeted the previous day.

When they friends were cornered by police officers and a dog, one claimed he was just a "freelance journalist" inspecting the damage caused by looters, City of Westminster Magistrates Court was told.

The court heard that Armstrong has just finished the first year of an accountancy course at Kingston University, while Lawson is a second year engineering student at London South Bank University and Ojjeh is an estate agent.

The three friends from Mitcham, Surrey, were arrested on Wednesday after allegedly breaking into PC World on a retail park in Colliers Wood, south London, in order to steal from it.

The shop had seen its shelves stripped bare a day earlier as lawlessness spread across the capital.

Lisa Brown, prosecuting, said: "Clearly these riots were some of the worst that took place.

"Substantial damage had been caused and properties had been looted.

"These offences took place against that backdrop.

"The men were discovered by police dogs in a property that had been substantially vandalised and looted over the past 24 hours.

"It is not clear the full extent of the damage, but let's just say it was clearly substantial."

After they were caught by police dogs Armstrong claimed he had just been there for research as he was a writer while Lawson – who has previous convictions for assault – allegedly had to be restrained by police.

"Mr Lawson struggled," said the prosecutor. "The officers had to resort to punching him in the back several times."

Both students pleaded guilty to burglary while the estate agent, who has a 21 month-old child, denied the same charge.

They were remanded in custody and will be sent to Wood Green Crown Court for trial in the case of Ojjeh and sentencing for the other pair, who face jail sentences.

Latest discussions include shutting down Twitter and Black Berry as well as denying welfare to families with convictions. I am all for cutting off welfare, but shutting down social media is something Iran would do.
