I am starting research into Rig Veda.

The idea is to check which Devas get mentioned in older books 6 3 7 compared to later books and to see if there is any evidence of balto-Slavic based God's in Vedas and their relation to old and new Mandala.

We know steppe people came but we don't consider them to be Vedic so who were they? Proto Finno-Urgic or Proto Balto-slavic or proto-Iranian. PFU looks unlikely though.


So to roughly summarize my intention for this research is to see if Vedas were in fact a syncritic faith aka mix-mash of various tribal faiths.

Seems like only Agni is mentioned .....
Vasu is another but is he a deity .....
Use of Pita instead of pitr ....

There is one mention of Parjanya in last hymn of the Mandala 6 but it's not a dedicated hymn

This one is equated to balto-slavic God by the scholars. Has hymns dedicated to him in Mandala 5 which is oldest among the new books.


Let's move on.
