I cant understand why Allied powers dont allow Germany and Austria to reunite?Austrians are Germans,Vienna was German capital up to 1806,after WW1 Austria wanted to join Germany,Britain,France,US prohibited. When Hitler wanted t annex Austria then Austrians supported.
Even in 1956,Soviet troops when were withdrawn then this condition was used that Austria will never join Germany, why?

It seems Germany is most deprived off country in Europe.
Even in WW2,Austrians supported German war effort.:germany:

Yeah a million-dollar question.

I'm always curious why Switzerland isn't split and shared by Italy, Germany and France based on linguistic/ethnic demography.

Sir,this is not the fact,Swiss people never wanted to join Germany,Italy or France.Austrian people wanted to join Germany after WW1 and during Anschluss,Germans accepted it,they are separated forcefully.Even USSR prohibited Austria to join Germany.

On 9 March 1938, in an effort to preserve Austria's independence, Schuschnigg scheduled a plebiscite on the issue of unification for 13 March. To secure a large majority in the referendum, Schuschnigg set the minimum voting age at 24, as he believed younger voters were now supporters of the German Nazi ideology. This was a risk, and the next day it became apparent that Hitler would not simply stand by while Austria declared its independence by public vote. Hitler declared that the referendum would be subject to major fraud and that Germany would not accept it. In addition, the German ministry of propaganda issued press reports that riots had broken out in Austria and that large parts of the Austrian population were calling for German troops to restore order. Schuschnigg immediately responded publicly that reports of riots were false.[19]

Hitler sent an ultimatum to Schuschnigg on 11 March, demanding that he hand over all power to the Austrian National Socialists or face an invasion. The ultimatum was set to expire at noon, but was extended by two hours. Without waiting for an answer, Hitler had already signed the order to send troops into Austria at one o'clock.[20]
Guns and Roses?!

The true story of Austrians "voluntarily" offered themselves for Nazi Germany?

Then why Austrians supported German war machine in WW2?Why mainstream Austrian society supported the German cause in WW2?many Nazi leaders were Austrians. Why large scale partisan rebellion did not occur in Austria like France or Poland?
Why USSR prohibited Austria to join Germany?

If Austrians opposed then within 1 year(It happened in 1938),WW2 started in 1939,they changed their mind!!

Actually Germany did not exist before 1871 as country, but existed as cultural and linguistic unity. There was heavy rivalry between Catholic Austria and Protestant Prussia over ownership of smaller German states.

There was a debate that under whom German states should unite? Prussia or Austria?

German question - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

In 1867, Prussia defeated Austria, and wanted to merge Austria to Prussian led German confederacy but Austria did not want to be dominated by Prussia so Austria did not join Prussia led confederacy and Austria began it's own journey as free country, first time ever. Austria also had many non-German speaking areas whose people did not want to join confederacy.

After WW1 when Austria lost it's all non German area, then it wanted to join Germany, but victorious allied being anti-Germany refused.

In 1938 when Austria was annexed by Hitler, Austrians supported it, for which Austrians actively participated in German war machine.

But WW2 ended in German defeat, and Nazi atrocities were discovered then Austria to relief them selves from responsibility of Nazi atrocity did not want to join Germany, they used First Victim theory(A lie) and victorious allied being anti-Germany too refused. Even after WW2, Austrian state treaty forbids unification with Germany.

Now let us see what it's opposition says?

1) Austria is not Germany- False proved from upper part, if Austria was not German then there would be no debate regrading under whom German states should unite, why would German states unite under some one who is not even German?

2) Supporters of this often criticized as Nazi, very funny Nazism did not exist when this debate(see the wiki link) started, and after WW1 Austrians when wanted to unite with Germany even then Nazism was non-existent. So this concept is far older than Nazism. So Nazism= Germany-Austria unification is not right.

3) Supporters of this are called racist and anti-semitic as well, very funny if Hindus of India unite to abolish caste system and then if Muslims say those Hindus are against Islam, is not this funny? If Hindus want to reform their religion then how it can be anti-Muslim? Similarly if unification supporters say unification between Germany and Austriahow they can be called racist?

If I love myself, it does not mean I hate you. Does it?

4) Austrians dont consider them Germans- Because those Austrians were born as Austrians, and they are used to with present system. Make Germany and Austria united, after 50 years now Austrians who from birth saw themselves as Germans they would not consider them as Austrian any more.

Biggest example is- 100 years before, NW area of India(which is now Pakistan) that area's people used to refer themselves Indian, but now they live in free country Pakistan and they are completely used to it, so they no longer consider them as Indian. Is the logic behind this example understandable?

So we see if our system changes then people's mentality will also change. Average public accepts current system as normal and does not want to change it unless it is very harmful.

People's perspective changes times to time, but historical facts dont, and historical facts say Austria has German history.

So say Germany-Austria unification, but say no to Nazism, Racism, war mongering or anti-semitism.

But present German government is inviting crocodiles by digging tunnels yet hopes they will not devour them, what else can be expected from them? Nothing. Modern Germany is huge puppet of US.
