If corruption continues, taxpayers should refuse to pay taxes through a non-cooperation movement, the judge said.

Taking a serious note of the increasing menace of corruption, the Nagpur Bench of the Bombay High Court said that citizens should not pay taxes if the government fails to curb corruption.

Hearing an embezzlement case, the court termed corruption as a 'hydra-headed monster' and asked citizens to come together to raise their voice and refuse to pay the taxes, according to a report in a leading daily.

During the hearing of the case where funds worth Rs 385 crore in the Lokshahir Annabhau Sathe Vikas Mahamandal (LASVM) set up for the welfare of the Mathang community was misappropriated, Justice Arun Chaudhari said, "The miasma (unholy atmosphere) of corruption can be beaten if all work together. If it continues, taxpayers should refuse to pay taxes through a non-cooperation movement."

Stating that the government should understand the excruciating pain and anguish of the taxpayers, the judge observed that tax payers have been suffering for over two decades in the state and that corruption in government-run financial organizations had become rampant.

This comes just days after India continued to be at the 76th spot in Transparency International’s Corruption Perception Index for 2015.

This is one of the brilliant ideas I used to wonder about even during my school days. If they are so corrupt, stop paying taxes for a year.

But it is a bit hard for us employees whose taxes are directly cut by the companies before the salary is deposited.

It is not accepted ,paying taxes are duties of citizen which the should complete ,even the court cannot stop any one who is trying to help the nation.Corruption need to fought but there is manner to fight it.Make CAG more independent,increase RTI power ,increase power of CBI etc but not paying taxes that is not a way to fight .Do not pay taxes, then no road for you,no train ,no airport etc .It is like shooting ur self in the head.

I agree with you and would like to add that the judge responsible for issuing this directive to citizens should be disciplined.

Judges themselves have become ultra vires. One must understand that these are people uttering these words and not "Justice" herself. Trying to spread anarchy over the land with gay rulings. Need we say what kind of morals these people have?
Don't pay taxes, let women barge into chambers of ascetic men, legalise homos. These are the jewels the justice system of India seems to be producing.
