ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Wednesday said that reports about the involvement of many groups, including the Research and Analysis Wing (RAW) of India, in the Islamabad District Courts firing and bomb attack had been pouring in and the investigation was going on in this regard.

Expressing concern over the new wave of terrorism and emergence of new terrorist groups, during a meeting with a group of parliamentarians from the Gujranwala Division, the prime minister said that on the one hand, the dialogue process was going on while on the other hand, new groups were coming to the fore, perpetrating terrorist activities with new names.

He said that security and intelligence agencies had been directed to investigate the matter. He said the government chose the path of dialogue according to the decision taken in the All Parties Conference and expressed the hope that the dialogue would bear fruit.

During the meeting, the prime minister told the MPs that the country's economic situation had improved as compared to the last year. "We have taken concrete measures to bring the economy back on a strong footing," he said.

The prime minister said through a pragmatic approach and rational policies, the government had been able to provide relief to the masses with regard to the power sector. He said the foreign investment was rising due to the confidence posed by the international donors in the country's economy. The Chinese investment in the power and infrastructure sectors will further give a boost to our economy, he said.

Nawaz said that the Youth Business Loan Scheme had been launched successfully and a promise made during the election campaign was fulfilled. The parliamentarians showed confidence in the leadership of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and said the steps taken by him would put the country on the path to progress. They also discussed political matters and development projects relating to their constituencies.

Minister for Commerce Engineer Khurram Dastagir Khan, Minister for Defence Khawaja Muhammad Asif, Minister for Planning Ahsan Iqbal, Minister for Science and Technology Zahid Hamid, Minister of State for Housing and Works Usman Ibrahim, Minister of State for National Health Services Saira Afzal Tarar, Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs Sheikh Aftab, senators and MNAs including Hamza Shahbaz, attended the meeting. – Agencies

Muhammad Saleh Zaafir adds: During the meeting, the prime minister said his government had inherited heaps of problems, including the worst kind of terrorism and an acute energy crisis.

Had the former rulers attended to the problems confronted by the people and the country, the situation could have been much better today, he said. "But we are determined to sorting out all ills and the country will have the capacity to meet the future needs of energy when our government completes its tenure," he said.

Ahsan Iqbal pointed out to the prime minister that the members had been asking for fund allocations for the development projects. The sources said that Nawaz told the members that the situation of economy was improving but for the time being such a demand could not be accepted. As the situation improves, the government will consider provision of the facility, he added.

There has to be some motive. Mindless fidayeen attacks are best suited for ISI and their paid gangmen.

What was role of India and the above in enabling Pakistan to have safe, effective and binding democratic elections. The person sitting in Paki PM seat and the role (no disturbance some might say) of India is totally silent. India is really bad for Pakistan - no one talks about the role of India that enabled them to have Democratic elections and in fact now moving in a better direction compared to before. If they consider anything and everything bad happening in Pakistan and is India related - The Pakistan people need to have realism that India is on the side of good principles - look at the elections they only had recently and compared it to the years before.

The trouble in Pakistan is down to confusion and puzzlement of the Pakis themselves on whether to use terrorism to be a state weapon. As long as that Pakis use terrorism and such people they will face such problems and it is spreading to different areas not only India. Pakis still think that terrorism is only a shield and wont hurt them in the long term since they are a "Islamic" state and would be able to reason with the people (confidence in their own ability). But unfortunately terrorism is a sword and it is stabbing themselves in many ways *(including international law and sovereignty and relationship with its allies) they are unable to comprehend.

No one links the above to Musharraf and having justification on his huge security apparatus and links to making the trial go a certain way. It is ironic it happens near the Musharraf trial dates.

It's about time, bombing is not correct but Raw has done almost nothing except 85 bombing.

Meanwhile Pakistan and Bangladesh have been waging war non stop.

According to Pakistanis, almost everything in Pakistan is traced back to RAW or Mossad or CIA. I think Pakistan should just hand over their country to these three intelligence agencies to run as a joint operation. Anyway, it appears that these three agencies are controlling everything in Pakistan.

In fact Pakistan itself is RAWbbish so Palistanis are right in having such paRAWnoia.

Here is the RAW naval anthem. Bad spelling though. After all Pakistanis have better English than Indians.

Pakistan BELONGS to RAW aka India.

Pakis should start thinking about the next instrument of surrender like they did in 71.

Nawaz Sharif could be saying this to ensure that whatever back channels have been opened up with Taliban are not scuttled.
