Kakawin Ramayana in Javanese Language Ramayana reached Ramayana in early days probably much earlier than we know. But in modern Narrative, Ramayana was created in 870 CE in Medang kingdom under Mpu Sindok.

In the Indian epic Ramayana, the mythological island Lanka is been often identified with Sro Lanka. The inhabitants of Lanka were mentioned as non-humans, mainly referring to the Rakshasas and Yakshas, but also mentioning the Nagas. Indrajit, the son of Ravana was married to Sulochana, a Naga princess.
It is believed Meghanad after his victory over Indra, goes to conquer other worlds. So he reaches Naaglok. Fights with Vasuki who was the king of Nagas and defeats him. So Vasuki curses Meghanad that vasuki’s elder brother Sheshnaag ( who is know the strongest Naga and bed of lord Vishnu) will kill him. So to counter act the curse he marries Sheshnaag’s daugther Sulochana thinking Sheshnaag will not kill his son in law. But Sheshnaag reincarnated as Lakshman and killed him.

In Ramayana, There are many warriors in Vanar Sena who fought for Lord Ram under Sugreev like Hanuman, Angad, Nal, Neel, Maind, Dviwid, Sharabh, Gaj, Gavaksh, Shveta, Dadhimukh and others. After Sugreev, Angad became king of Kishkindha. Ref: MBH GP 2.31.17. In Mahabharata when Rajsuya Yagya is going on in Indraprasth, Sahdev went in South direction he reached Kishkindha too. At that time, Two Vanar kings Maind and Dviwid are ruling there. Are they same from Ramayana?

"Kurugodu" was a part of the Kishkindha kingdom ruled by the Vanar brothers Vali and Sugreeva during the Treta Yuga (period when Lord Rama ruled the earth). Later in the Dwapara Yuga, this place became the capital of the Kuntala kingdom ruled by the great king Chandrahasa.

Sharstic Knew.

Ya'll Nibbiars We always hear about RamLila happening in India. But do we know about similar events outside India? In Indonesia, Sendratari Ramayana, which means visualisation of Ramayana, has been performing without any dialogues. It’s called Ramayana Ballet. RamaBeyondIndia.

Should we be also discussing the various version of the Ramayan?

Valmiki's Ramayan? Tulsidas Ramayan? Agastya's Ramayan?

They all have varying context / Connotations while the base story remains the same.

even in the Vishnu and Agni Purana's ?

Laos: people celebrate Phra Lak Phra Ram here. It is Lao version of a great epic Ramayana. Ravana is ready here. Let’s end our thread of India’s Ramayana connection with ASEAN countries.

Actually the Philippines native hindu-buddhist-indigenous culture has been completely destroyed by colonialism. Even the version of ramayan is kind of westernized sadly.

Afaik the Pinoys had only indigenous oogah boogah, the tribes in the geographical south of Phillipines are different groups having more in common with indonesians and malays.

This Marano tribe that Haldi put a picture of are Muslim today but they were Hindu buddhist in the past, same as Malays and the other Indonesian tribes.

Since our subjugation over 1200 years, the SEAsians were bereft of their "Fathers in Faith", and most converted to Islam peacefooly( Malays, Indonesian tribes, tribes found in south of phillipines ), others became kattar Buddhists like Burmese, Thais, Cambodians, Laotians and Southern Vietnamese tribes.

Ironically here the momins deny everything Indian/Hindu, in places like Indonesia they still have ramayan plays and mahabharat plays and all, with sanskritized names, just because for them Hindu/Buddhist period is a part of their ancient history/culture.

Malays from Malaysia are more kattar muslims tho because of Ching chongs and Tamil Hindus( recent migrants from 100-200 years ago ), but before insertion of these tribes during British colonialism they too held their Hindu/Buddhist history in deep reverence.

I wish we reach a level of cultural and economic dominance over SEAsia once again
