This is the respect we have for our agency (that when backed by the confidence of decision makers has produced world class weapons) which has produced a system which will not only stop more orders for SpyDer hence save dollars but also earn dollars if properly marketed.chalo jaaan chooti ....
idhar udhar se design mar moor ke kuch toh banaya....
The rocket engine is basically a spin-off of Barak 8 (elongated Derby) engine (a DRDO developed system). Going by the pic of QRSAM, it definitely has four thrust deflectors (call it TVC if you like) whose scaled up and bit modified version can be seen in AAD.Take a look at @sayareakd's Tweet:
explain it to armed forces who will reject buying it.This is the respect we have for our agency (that when backed by the confidence of decision makers has produced world class weapons) which has produced a system which will not only stop more orders for SpyDer hence save dollars but also earn dollars if properly marketed.
Who can ignore relatively short time in which this system has progressed to firing tests from being a mere idea? If I can remember correctly, this system has gone from being an idea to firing tests in less than 18 months. That's awesome even by western standards.
FYI everything in this system of systems is a spin-off on many technologies that DRDO has painstakingly developed over decades. That also means once a county completes the period of technology development, development of actual systems takes only fraction of the time. NGARM is next in line-- a missile whose airframe is also based on Astra BVRAM.
That is something time will tell. But as far as IAF is concerned Astra MK-1 is about to be inducted and QRSAM is based on Astra MK-1 and an improvement over it. Also what makes this deal even sweeter, the Akash SAM has seen repeated orders from services............... It seems DRDO systems sees success when there is Government at the centre which is not after making (black) money from defence deals.explain it to armed forces who will reject buying it.

It was not expected to start shooting targets in a time period as small as 14 months by the same pessimists as you. Since I am neither a pessimist nor a mystic I can't comment on the number of years it will take to induction. But do mention that at the core this system is tested; be its missile or command and control (the reason why they went so quickly to firing tests against targets) and this the fact that makes me confident of its success.after how many years??
let the armed forces conduct the test then we can wait for the operation clearance and this will take 2-3 years and then they will ask to change something in it.
