Quad is finished and over. New alliance is AUKUS and military domain of quad was always way over blown by American fan boy's.

These two sources also confirmed this.

Military aspect of quad was promoted by trump under heat of wuhan virus and trade war and with the end of his administration military angle of quad is also dusted.

Muricans would not like to share top end military technologies with india because the rise of military hegemony of india also threatens American influence and anyways because of our poor MIC they can always sell us over expensive garage and milk us rather than helping us for development of our industries.

QUAD is the future of Indo Pacific, AUKUS is the reflection of English block that exists after post colonial era.

AUKUS compliments Quad.

I cannot understand this impotence mentality from an otherwise proud people with thousands of years of civilization behind them, with China even copying their religion. Why should India be sensitive about China's reaction when clearly China does not care a bit about India's sensitivities? :creepy:
some accounts try to demoralise and demean India here. They do know what exactly is happening and the Rise of India.

Some thing unique is happening with India. Rise of China is considered as a pure economic. Rise of India will have the vibration felt across the world.

Give it a decade and the picture will be very clear. India manuvered itself into a nice spot in International Arena.

Quad Principles on Technology Design, Development, Governance, and Use

The Quad countries (Australia, India, Japan, and the United States of America) affirm that the ways in which technology is designed, developed, governed, and used should be shaped by our shared democratic values and respect for universal human rights. Technology should make the lives of our citizens more secure, prosperous, and rewarding, addressing some of the world’s greatest shared challenges, like equitable growth, climate change, energy security, and pandemic diseases. We are committed to fostering an open, accessible, and secure technology ecosystem, based on mutual trust and confidence, and we welcome all nations to support the following principles:

Support universal values.

  • We are committed to the development of critical and emerging technology that yields tangible benefits for society, developed through a multi-stakeholder approach that is adaptive, dynamic, and aligns with universal values, including respect for freedom of expression and privacy.
  • We support approaches to technological design, development, governance, and usage that promote our shared values, including the autonomy, agency, and dignity of individuals.
  • The design, development, governance, and use of technology should be an equitable and inclusive process that neither involves nor results in unfair discriminatory action.
  • Technology should not be misused or abused for malicious activities such as authoritarian surveillance and oppression, for terrorist purposes, or to disseminate disinformation.
Build trust, integrity, and resilience.

  • Technology ecosystems built upon trust, integrity, and resilience foster innovation.
  • We support openness and interoperability to enable collaboration and to welcome innovators who are both diverse in their gender, race, and ethnicity, as well as in the size, structure, and age of their organizations.
  • We expect technology suppliers, vendors, and distributors to produce and maintain secure systems, and to be trustworthy, transparent, and accountable in their practices. Technology developers should also build in safety and security-by-design approaches so that robust safety and security practices are a part of the technology development process. Illicit transfer or theft of technology is a common challenge that undermines the very foundation of global technological development and should be addressed.
  • Resilient, diverse, and secure technology supply chains – for hardware, software, and services – are vital to our shared national interests. Close cooperation on supply chains with allies and partners who share our values will enhance our security and prosperity, and strengthen our capacity to respond to international disasters and emergencies.
Foster healthy competition and international collaboration to advance the frontier of science and technology.

  • A fair and open marketplace is a cornerstone of innovation and inclusive prosperity.
  • We support free and fair market competition in which the best technical solutions succeed, including with the help of transparently-awarded state incentives.
  • We encourage the development of competitive technology ecosystems that welcome new market entrants, including start-ups, and enhance innovation, resilience, and sustainability.
  • We recognize and affirm the importance of industry-led, consensus-based multi-stakeholder approaches to international standards development that foster interoperability, compatibility, and inclusiveness.
  • We are committed to reducing barriers to data and knowledge sharing for research projects and greater innovation, while protecting research security.
  • We are also committed to facilitating the exchange of researchers and movement of highly skilled personnel to enhance science and technology collaboration.
  • We are committed to developing shared research and development agendas, to include joint projects and joint capacity building where possible, that align with foundational scientific principles, further our common values, and promote workforce diversity and education.
  • Together, we will continue to keep pace with changes in the global economy and innovation processes by monitoring future trends and harnessing the opportunities to advance technologies to address many of our shared objectives: security and resilience, sustainability, economic inclusion, and health and wellbeing.
  • We are committed to fostering technology development that accelerates economic progress and serves the needs of all of our citizens.
We welcome all nations to join us in pursuit of this shared vision for technologies, guided by these principles.

Lots of areas for cooperation. However for a new block they should focus on one or two areas and build upon that. Commitment to do everything will only increase burden at this early stage.

Also this ideological wording is bit confusing. Is QUAD an ideological grouping or economic one? There are many countries in Asia that doesn't follow democratic ideology but are anti-China and pro-trade. If QUAD focuses too much on ideology how can they get these countries on board? If QUAD is ideological grouping than it has to have a security mechanism to protect those ideals. On ideological front QUAD would be openly anti-China grouping. However US and other QUAD memeber have stressed that QUAD isn't a security grouping. Lot of confusion.

The question of AUKUS in relation to QUAD also remains. This meeting didn't clear any doubts on AUKUS. Japan who is a major power in Asia, brain behind QUAD initiative has been sidelined in this meeting. Australia is given too much importance after AUKUS.

If QUAD wants to be successful as a economic alternative they need a strong financial institution to back it up. A QUAD bank or Infra bank could be a great start. Also if QUAD wants to give alternative to Chinese supply chain, 5G, etc. they will need to get more countries on board so a QUAD+ type arrangement is needed.

QUAD needs a proper communication mechanism other than meeting once a year.

US releasing Huawei's Meng right when QUAD was meeting in person for the first time is either a really bad timing or a deliberate action to send a message.

Right now QUAD seems highly ambitious but confused. US has lot of experience in building sucessful alliances and economic groupings so that gives a little bit of extra assurance. Still, I have my doubts on QUAD. Lets see if QUAD delivers something on ground in next one or two years otherwise it will become another BRICS.

if you find any opinions on how China would react, do post them here

ideally China should be initiating a counter move within a year.
Pakistan wouldn't risk getting SSN and getting ire of west . AUKUS is mainly against china, if India would have been part of AUKUS Pakistan would have been primary beneficiary.
I am suspecting that Europe will get closer to Russia and china and slowly move out of US influence .
I am not sure but there was some nuclear deal pending between France and China , we might see some progress in that.

on the europe bit, both the issues of europe getting Closer to China and migrant refugees influx was championed by Germany.

with Angela merkel getting out of office and ongoing German elections, will decide whether EU will go into russian camp.

US has enough clout within EU, it’s very easy to block a consensus in EU politics.

Merkel was a cuckservative from the Christian Democratic Union. Will be replaced by another one or quite likely a Social Democrat. And so it will continue. Makes little difference. Germany will only move away from the US and towards Russia, and that too partially, if a right-wing government came into power. And right now, both the CDU and the Social Democrats refuse to work with the AfD.

Japan in WW2...No one can invade Japan , we are the most patriotic folks around the world and if chips are down we will become kamakazi

Japan Today ...Maah phone , Maah life ..
That's what cultural indoctrination does.

Their War Minister, Korechiko Anami told the Emperor not to surrender even after the two atom bombs had been dropped saying, "A true soldier would die rather than surrender."

But when the Emperor made his decision to surrender, the General killed himself in the Japanese tradition of seppuku, and his suicide note read, "My death is my apology for the great crime of shaming the Emperor and losing the war."

Fast forward a couple of decades, the Americans spread their imperialist indoctrination falsely executing military people for "war crimes", Japanese youth are taught that Imperial Japan and military was horrible and committed "war crimes" and Japan should not glorify its past, nationalism is bad and they should always be pacifist because its military did horrible things and hence the present scenario. I don't want to join, my smartphone is my life!

Imperial Japanese Army committed horrible war crimes and Japan should indeed be ashamed of that past. Don't dilute it. But, it is not the Japanese folks of today who did all that.

Anyhow, the more a nation develops and is urbanized the less the volunteers come forth to join military arms. The strict discipline and regimented lives are not what the well provided children seeks. You would see that even in India there are very few recruits from urban middle class families compared to the rural families. It has got nothing to do with 'American imperialist doctrinarian' whatever that might be, but everything to do with difficulty and risk involved with the job. I see around me, and young urban kids are way softer than what we used to be in our days. Yes, it has got a lot to do with ready availability of entertainment as well as increase in wealth status of masses.

Most of the ones that was spread as Japanese war crimes was Allied propaganda. There were indeed some questionable acts too, but those were on par with the ones done by America, Soviet Union and the rest. No country was singularly responsible for "war crimes" the way the Allies put it; that is solely the Axis powers were responsible for war crimes.

After the war was over, most incidents were falsified and generals were killed hurriedly. The few incidents that were real were ones that you will find done by any American or Russian regiment during and well-after World War 2. Afghanistan is the most credible example.

Who said that wasn't the war crime? I have always been vocal about it and always use that to trim the sanctimonious pricks who speak in favour of the worst human rights violator in the modern history i.e. USA.
