Well, if anything, then this recent debacle just further proves the mistake of trusting countries like US or UK.

In a nutshell:

In 2016, France had a contract worth 56 Billion Euros to supply Australia with 12 Nuclear Submarines.

But Biden announced that the United States had sealed an alliance with the United Kingdom and Australia against China. And that as such Australia would buy American submarines, not French ones.

At the request of the United States, Australia broke off the $50 billion "contract of the century" with France, without even warning France.

The French denounce this as a "stab in the back" by the Americans PRECISELY because as a reminder, following the events in Crimea, the Americans had forced France to break its contract with Russia on the Mistral aircraft carriers.

And today, the Americans are thanking their ally by stealing its contracts

As to what might happen next, I think the biggest friction is going to be between France against UK and Australia, not so much the US.

Yeah, France is pretending to raise its voice by recalling its ambassador from America. But in reality, it is all theater.

France needs the US more than the US needs France. So France will return to the American fold. And to make up for it, the USA will give France a contract of no importance via the sale of Rafales or Mirage or some geopolitical concessions in Africa.

Good…focusing on business and trade and an alternate global supply chain with india at its core is the right way to go. Forget about security alliances for now.
In any case, on the strategic security part, now that the French are thoroughly pissed with exclusion from AUKUS, we should have a very good leverage with the French on advanced joint R&D projects including joint production of SSNs and jet engines and nuclear reactors. Maybe who knows France will become even more inextricably intertwined with us in the military industry complex area and forge a ’bro’ alliance like the AUKUS. I think we already have an arrangement with France called InFra and we should now deepen it and take the relationship to the highest possible security alliance level including joint space industry, joint defense equipment production etc. This maybe a good way for us to counter the AUKUS threat. I wonder if India-France-Japan-Korea-Russia can come together…these are interesting times for sure. Lol.

Yup..i also think is all optics, a fixed match... Remember muricans toppled regime in Guinea for french benefits couple weeks ago So dat French can loot Guineas natural resources like they used to do earlier... ACTUALLY Chinese got played into all this theatre....This Aukus deal is Like China selling nuke subs to Venezuela or Cuba.. Guess how will muricans react if chinks sell nuke subs to cuba...So basically it Should be Chinese pulling back ambassadors from Australia and murica...But then chinkis helped porks in acquiring Nuclear weapons so I m happy... Anyway after some time everything will be fine between western alliance..chinki clowns have to find these subs in water now:rofl:

Correct. Perhaps France's relations with UK and Australia is going to take a hit, but the US? No way. Especially with a pansy like Macron at the helm.

The coup in Guinea was definitely leverage for this. France cannot forgo the US.

Guinea wasn't the first and neither will it be the last.
The events in Guinea, as well as in all nation-states involved in recent events in the Sahel, is without a doubt part of the new "Great Game" between the Great Blocs of power (🇷🇺+🇨🇳 vs 🇺🇸/🇫🇷/🇬🇧vs 🇹🇷) who project their power and influence into an increasingly unstable Africa.

It's important to remember that this country is one of the largest producers of Bauxite in the world, with Guinea having supplied 55% of bauxite supply for China's use to produce aluminium. This Coup will directly influence the Global aluminum markets.

This as well as the Russian influence in Post-Coup in Mali and the growing Turkish influence in Senegal, are examples of the "21st Century Great Game" in Africa.

One fact is clear: French Soft Power is falling apart and Paris Forces are in complete retreat from West Africa/Sahel (and beyond).

While the Western media focuses too much on events surrounding Afghanistan and the American withdrawal from Central Asia, little is said, at least for now, of the French withdrawal plans for Operation Barkhane, which, like the Afghan War, is a pallative conflict, impossible to be won in a conventional way.

That's where the coup in Guinea comes in. By orchestrating it, America has ensured a regime friendly to themselves and also hold leverage over France who are slowly retreating from Africa.

It's all just sound and fury. Within a few months, France will be back in America's lap. The French delusionally still think of themselves as a superpower whereas they do not have the stones to move away from the US.

if it turns out to be true that austrailia is given tech to stop china today and india in future then only one thing will work that pump in huge loads of money in Rersearch and dev, and we should start working on it from today .

china is also lagging in this sector despite having tons of money like US

Absolutely. I don't think this was done solely for containing China. It's about Australia, and by extension America, gaining control of the South China Sea, and to some extent, the Indian Ocean.

It's to restrict whichever country that might be on the rise to pose a challenge to the US. If today it's China, tomorrow it's going to be us.

Of course the Aussies and USA are claiming it's for "defense from China". But that in itself explains the hidden message.

What is made for defense can also be used for attack.

In terms of containing China how many of you guys think US with everyone else will be able to do or how much of they will be able to achieve or will they fail in doing so, considering China have got US compromised at highest levels seeing all our old discussions or some instances we have seen in thier dealings with China recent one is their Armed forces calling and saying we will not attack you but if we do we will inform you about that beforehand.

And we should not forget about increasing power of China and declining of US due to woke culture.

I really don't know why a lot of people are going ballistic on the supposed/future security threat to India from AUKUS.

The India of today is not the India even a decade back as far as defence technologies are concerned.

We have supersonic cruise missiles, are researching on hypersonic cruise missiles(might even have a finished product in the next 5 years), IRBM's, ICBM's(both MIRV and MARV warheads on cusp of induction), SSBN(though of older generation but both K4 and K6 SLBM's induction are probably only a couple of years ahead), thermonuclear warheads(of min 200kt strength as per our scientists, let's believe them) etc.

The list is very long. Our defence R&D is taking off.

Nobody can take India out militarily without sustaining unacceptable losses.
Sure the US can out nuke us but will they be willing to forgo Los Angeles or New York. Commenting on a purely hypothetical situation. Why in the world should the US and India nuke each other.

If the losses will be unacceptable for the US what to say about China or an Australia.

If the US rapidly and drastically increases Australian military strength, will the rest of the Asian big powers like China, Japan and India be sleeping or twiddling their thumbs. There will be counter moves.

Presently India is almost immune to any major military aggression. The Chinese may have intruded a few km or a few dozen kms into our territory but will they dare try to capture New Delhi or even the whole of Arunachal Pradesh. The PLA generals know that they should be ready to lose Beijing or Shanghai to nuclear devastation in response.

But India is still vulnerable to economic pressure and blackmail. Our adversaries can try to put economic pressure on India. They will not use the military option because the costs will be unbearable.

So bada gora saheb has outsourced dadagiri of Indian ocean to chotta gora saheb.

By late 2030/early 2040s, CCP was looking at having a major presence here, that they will have but with this AUS will be a major player.

I recall some reports wherein our navy ships were trailed by AUS subs & another incident wherein AUS navy ship got in the way of our's leading to an evasive action from our side. (Cannot find the source now). But this is in a past era.

Hope we have our things ready in the next 25 or 30 years.

CCP can suck a lemon, this is what happens when you aggressively antagonize others, among other things.
Summed up beautifully.

People jumping with joy on the prospects of australia gaining cutting edge tech don't have the ability of looking 2 years into the future.

They think that Australian PM made some good remarks on India and posted pictures with dhokla so surely they are our best friend's. This naivety is what lead to our downfall in the last century.

US just ditched every single country in Asia including japan Taiwan and korea which are under direct chinese threat and instead went on to help australia which is miles away from China and has no border issues with them.

This is nothing but the reinforcement of a white country and an attempt to maintain the power if balance in Asia.

The people cheering for this alliance today would probably be crying a few years down the line when they conduct a FON drill near our islands like US did a few months back.

Nobody in Asia is happy about this because this is a blatant attempt at changing the power dynamics of Asia.

Japan has worked with the US for decades and understands what is happening and is already working towards a self sufficient MIC and security pacts with other Asian countries.

What could have been a simple arrangement bow has more complexities as Australia will soon start making it's own demands as they continue to gain more heft in the region.

Also expect australia to act as a proxy of UK in Asia thus muddling up things a bit more.
Will have to write a much detailed post on this.

A lot of people are wondering how Australia can turn into a major power in Asia with just nuclear submarines.

Everyone also needs to focus on the previous purchases and the upcoming technologies being given to Australia.

8 cutting edge nuclear attack submarine the best in Asia.

A dozen EA-18G Growlers 4 mc-55-a EW and ElNIT aircraft and 6 wedgetails AWACS gives australia the most capable EW capability in Asia. This potent combo will also have around 72 F-35 to further flesh their abilities out.

Then it's their airforce with an F-35 fleet top notch EW and AWACS which are going to be supplemented by loyal wingman drones a few years from now.

Similarly their navy is also on an expansion spree with new destroyers frigates and submarines.

US is also collaborating with them on hypersonic missiles and other cutting edge tech like NGP.

None of this will make them the top dog of Asia far from it but it will certainly let them and by extension the US UK and west to enforce their heft around Asia in a significant manner.
Now since, bada gora dada has decided to shore up his bachha, using the same logic, the chance of CCP granting a small nuclear sub to their NaPaki bachha cannot be ruled out.

In this context, Indian national security planners also need to reconsider Project 75 I and Project 76, a follow-up of the previous one, and jump to Project 77 or the SSN project. Since submarine building takes at least a decade from the drawing board, India needs to prepare for a time when Chinese aircraft carriers and SSNs will be patrolling the Indian Ocean Region (IOR) apart from other global players.

It is not that the Modi government is sitting tight and watching the unfolding security situation in maritime dimension. With new aircraft carrier, INS Vikrant, INS Arighat SSBN, six new Kalvari class diesel attack submarines and Vishakhapatnam class of destroyers, the Indian Navy is going to be very potent force in the Indo-Pacific by 2025.

basically to stop this shit from happening just target left over manufacturing industry in pakistan.

  1. Miscellaneous textiles, worn clothing: US$4.3 billion (19.2% of total exports)
  2. Knit or crochet clothing, accessories: $3.1 billion (13.8%)
  3. Cotton: $2.6 billion (11.9%)
  4. Clothing, accessories (not knit or crochet): $2.6 billion (11.8%)
  5. Cereals: $2.1 billion (9.5%)
  6. Leather/animal gut articles: $583.4 million (2.6%)
  7. Copper: $435.3 million (2%)
  8. Salt, sulphur, stone, cement: $423 million (1.9%)
  9. Fruits, nuts: $418.6 million (1.9%)
  10. Optical, technical, medical apparatus: $380.5 million (1.7%)
to do this just target their energy infra and break the indus water treaty.
this thing can be done in 5 yrs.

Why not?

After all they have an army, air force, nuclear arsenal, rocket force (missiles), intelligence services far more than that is normally required for a country of that size.

It can be summarized as "Daddy issue".

To be rebellious & the never ending aim of being at parity with daddy.

They have ordered 8 AIP subs of the Hangor class from CCP. First one will be delivered by 2022. They might try to integrate the Babur 3 SLCM in the mean time.
