India successfully conducts 6 flight tests of Quick Reaction Surface to Air Missile (QRSAM) system from a defence facility off Odisha coast. Missiles fired against high speed aerial targets mimicking various types of threats demonstrate capability.

This system is actually quite potent when one begins to consider what our neighbours field against us in this segment: HQ-7.
Chinese, Pakistanis and Bangladeshis all field the HQ-7 against us. QRSAM is far far superior to it in all aspects.
Just learnt today, so X-posting, but apparently these radars are GaN AESA! AFAIK, these are the first use of GaN AESA tech in any Indian product and the first radar of this level in Indian Armed Forces (assuming the Army doesn't delay its induction after this recent round of trials).

One noob question
GaN radars are good for aircrafts as it consumes less power than GaAs but in land there are no such constraints right. So how the performance will differ
Is it related to better anti jamming capability of GaN
Or something else

GaN means higher power density. So even if you are not limited by power onboard, a higher power density would give you higher range as per radar equation. Also, GaN has much better heat dissipation, needed to achieve and sustain higher power densities. In fact, Japanese and Americans have actually developed ways to enhance heat disspiation and thus power output of their GaN radars by growing single-crystal diamond layers on top of the GaN substrate.
GaN also has higher Mean Ttime Between Failures than GaAs.
Other than that there are some other technical differences but I am not expert on electronics, so no idea. Maybe GaN has better efficiency as well. Not sure.

Noob question -

How does the QRSAM compare to the SPYDER systems in our existing inventory?

Does it complement SPYDER(Python+Derby) or betters it?

Qrsam can tracks targets on the move and engage in short stops...spyder is a static system afaik..on paper spyder mr and qrsam have similar ranges but qrsam is a bigger ,heavier missile

It was earlier reported in may news papers that the multiple trials were successful. In this report it says that, what were reported are not so. Does anyone have an idea about the truth?

Over weight, slow reaction, attention deficit (can't even detect helicoopter), seeker doesn't seek, eslow mijjle, truck tire pinture... Is any other system or tinghies that can go bad.

My wife also complains of me being over weight, not listening, not giving any attention to her while she is speaking, clumsy...... Yada Yada, looks like my wife wrote this article lol

The problems talked about in here could easily be found in earlier round of trials ....any way things will become clear by defexpo
