If it's not a success, then why did they release heavily upgraded version? Clearly PLA has plans to use it for years to come.
main problem of QBZ95 is the design of its gunstock........PLA sodlers compains about it a lot....

that is why QBZ-03 rolled out ,which has a redesigned gunstock....

Also add poor Iron Sights..

oh ,that's why you have that strange comment on QBZ-95's sights in this thread...but unfortunately, you' was wrong again on the basic fact...

that's not QBZ95's sight..here's the correct one...

the front sight and hindsight(obviously there are no 2 adjust wheels on both sides which apeared in your pic, the hindsight is a round hole ,not a "T" shape)

------------------------------

BTW since China's Spring festival is coming, and I would have more time before the holiday...I would like do more introduction job on China's Small Arms...LOL...

QBZ-95 is not a success, although the machining tech and material applied to it is much advanced than INsas.

that is why QBZ-03 rolled outs
and such totally wrong statement should be corrected as well...

OK , let's start with this... the sources first...

1. China's famous and authoritative Monthly Magazine about Light Infantry Weapons...

轻兵器<Small Arms>....the website http://www.qbq.com.cn/a/#

this magazine is supervised by 中国兵器工业集团 www.norincogroup.com.cn/"Ž,The publication sponsored by 中国兵器科学研究院 China Weapon Science institute...

2. some famous china's website about the Small Arms.. I would quote many pix there..loads of.....

=======================================
Part 1 .History.

the QBZ95 and the Type81 7.62mm which is supposed to be replaced.

actually ,between the Type81 and QBZ95, China has another 5.8mm Rifile project --Type 87 5.8mm rifle. this rifile basicly is a 5.8mm version of Type81...there were no many big improvement in Design Concept , material , Process, technology...so this rifile was just limited manufactured and only Armed Police get some for trial..

Type87 and Type87A 5.8mm

the development started in 1989, after 6 year's hard working this Family(QBZ95 rifile, QBZ95B Carbine and QBB95 MG ) passed the national test in 1995 and revealed in 1997.

Part 2...Technical aspects and Design Feature

1. short-stroke gas operated rotating-bolt system,
2. rotary gunlock
3. The selector switch with 3 positions:
0-safe
1-SemiAuto
2-Auto

many Canadian Gun players(Type97 NAG 5.56mm version) are complaining about the uncomfortable 'position' of firing mode selector switch(yes, it's not a good design but a Cheap Design to keep the design simple and easy manufacture= low cost). but designer also made the compensation if you notice the protuberance on the butt plate . the following pic demonstrates the correct use.(when the left hand's forefinger touch the protuberance , the thumb would FIND the selector switch without the need of "looking down")

and we also see that 'the protuberance' is cancelled on the New QBZ95-1(improved varient) since the Seletor switch is move to the The right hand thumb position...

4. material and process...it's a quitle tiny and light rifile, the forearm, Mag, upper receiver are all plastic, the lower receiver is Tough Aluminum , and other parts are steel...

the phosphate treatment of surface is well done as many Canadian has claimed...

FACT Sheet

simple comparation with Type56,81,87

in this table , we could read that the QBZ95's recoil VS Type 56(AK47) is 0.864 vs 0.614...
so called heavy recoil issue claimed by KB is another baseless lie...

You are quoting a 2 year old post of mine, Where were your rebutt during 2012 ?

Looks like Chinese have finally understood the issue and improved there sights, Gud Job !

But again these are not duel flip sights ( Rear ), And Still the Sights are too high than cheek, Butt is still the same and not improved ..

More or less its the same rifle, Bad design bullpup ..

Improve your English, Its hard to make out your language. Use less Lol and use better grammar..

oh? besides some mod's privilege then the 'language issues'....pity indeed...

truth stands the test of time... fault or lie doesn't...

funny... you made a lot of laughable statement here and there based on the wrong infomation or without any base... as a senior military fan and even the mod of a forum? you even have on courage to admit your mistake?
-----------------------------
then tell me. who told you this is QBZ95's so called poor Iron Sights?

Also add poor Iron Sights..

let's start from here....

Part 3....the details of early serial production batch and Problems.

since 1997,we have collected many pix of the early batchs(models)...the following ones demonstrate the status with Attachment(standard)
1.bayonet ...2.Optical sight...4.low-light level night sight...5.Rifle Grenade...6. 35mm under-slung grenade launcher(QLG91B 35mm GL)

here's the Details of a early model (before 2003) and after years' usage , this one is close to the end of life. and with this group of images, I would like to introduce some common weakness and design flaw from the feedback of Users.

this image of front sight has been quoted ...there is 2 small bumps on the sight protection where phosphor dot is placed for the aiming at night.

problem: the working life of phosphor dot seems not long enough ,and they are easy got lost after some time

--------------------
the rear sight(hindsight) and dovetail rail which is used to have the Optical sights mounted.

Problem: nowadays, the' Picatinny rail' is the most common rail for most sights and other Tactical accessories(Laser gunsight, Tactical light). unfortunately QBZ95 can't have those fitted without proper conversion device...

the rifile was designed in early 1990's , at that time the optical sights were not as popular as today...the iron sight is primary sight method...the hight of the sights is optimized for this. but when the optical sights is mounted, the line of sight seems high. especially in the Night sight case...

Part 3....the details of early serial production batch and Problems. continued....

-------------------------------
the upper(Plastics) and lower receiver (aluminium alloy)

-------------------------------
30 rounds Plastic Mag and the Mag Release button..(the 5.56 mm export version -Type 97 has a quite different structure)

Type97--the relevant part is adjusted to fit for M16 style aluminium alloy Straight cartridge

many Canadian user complain about the aweful design of Type97's Mag release method(need quite a lot of practise to get use to it)..but QBZ95's Mag release could be quite swift after proper training. there are some reasons:
1. the Release structure is different
2. most of PLA's young soilders never touch other rifiles before enter the service, so they have much less habitual behavior than those Professional gun players with experience and owing some other rifles.
3. optimized Training method in the infantry unit.

a clip to demonstrate the quick Mag Change method. also know as ' single-hand Mag Changing' method

Problems:
1. the lack of last round bolt hold open (LRBHO),...
2. to compromise the severe environment request(extremely cold and high alititute ), the selected polymerformulators of engineering plastics makes it impossiable to be a transparent Mag for quick observaion for the remaining rounds.but there is three small observation windows at the 10,20,30 rounds position on the Mag instead.

-----------------------
bolt handle and upper Handguard with carrying handle (plastics) ,actually the 'carrying' function is not recommended

some mod became more and more disappointing ...play the double standard games and misuse his privilege.
-----------------------------------
the so called ' QBZ95's iron sight' image actually is the Typ81-1 rifile's sight... which has a good reputation of accuracy and Reliability...

get the fact right first and avoid jumping to conclusion without correct information.

--------------------------------
more updates about QBZ95 would come in the following days if I have some spare time as today...

That picture only came back then in QBZ-95 search only, Not surprised, QBZ-95 back in days had such sights ..

You should not be ashamed if your country made such improvement, better now then never as saying goes by ..

don't make up history or 'fact ', that's really a dirty behaviour (As I know ,another so called 'expert' on this forum is good at this ,but as a Mod, I never expect this would happen to you, it's really disappointing)...

what you claimed never happened. which makes you are the only one should be ashamed in this case...

Google search results of today were not same back in 2012, Don't go around, Lets stick to the topic ..

Why haven't your designers done anything about cheek raiser on butt stock, Yet ?, Does PLA soldiers skulls are too big ? that one big flaw of the QBZ-95 besides its sights ..

LOL......right a vivid example here. we can read some personality of some person even a nation.
that's why the world is like this today................

-------------------------------------------------------
a PLA Navy unit just got a batch of newly built QBZ95-1B 5.8mm Carbine to replace their current Type 56C 7.62mm Carbine in their hands, which give us a chance to observe the improvement on Material, Process, machining in the more than 10 years' manufacturing of Type95 rifile family.

Part 3....the details of early serial production batch and Problems.....continued...

-----------------------------------
Ejector port

Problems:
1...the ejection port is on the right side and as a bullpup , so it's imposiable for a left-hander unless he changes his habit...but in China ,most of people are right-handers with much less left-hander ratio than Western nations.

some French instructor in China(at the Armed Police institute maybe) was passing some combat skills, but obviously if he fired any rounds , he would get hurt....LOL,this's just a demonstration...

2...the Direction of case-ejection seems untstable...sometimes it ejects to front- right ,sometimes to the right...but this flaw is also corrected on the QBZ95-1 varient..

-------------------------
the Lower HandGuard, Trigger, Grips --after years' using. the wear is quite notable

Problem: in early batches, the Engineering plastic used on Handguard would turn some kind 'white' after some time's usage, which brings some aesthetic impact. but with the adjustment of the formula(after around 1999). this was no longer a problem..

the maintenance accessories case(brush, cleaning rod, sight adjustment, wrench....) inside the Grip...

---------------------------------

Flashhide, Gasport and Gas valve

the Gas valve could be de adjusted with the bottom of a shell case

Part 4 ... disassembled Type97 NSR and components

the following is a group of images to demonstrate the tearing-down process of a Type97 and high quality images of all the components...
it would be a great comparison with the QBZ95 early batch (of Part 3) in Material , Process, Manufacture quality control ...and show us how the Chinese gun maker progressed in this decade...
