In order to protect our “chicken neck” would it be useful to install a pro-India puppet regime in BD? Obviously easier than outright invading and conquering the country both militarily and wrt international consequences. Or would this backfire/be impossible to do.

I'm no fan of bangladesh,but title is insulting and humiliates a sovereign people.Please change it to indian national interest in bangladesh.Basic golden rule is treat others as you would want to be treated yourself.You would not consent to being puppet of a foreign power like say china or america,why should they?

Well said. As much as I dislike the Islamist mentality there, let's not treat everyone like our colony. While they are technically ancestrally Indian territory, there's no point in doing the UK with these countries. Let's keep the title respectful.

A friendly regime in BD definitely helps. But given that there aren't many takers of the pro-India narrative as they are now more religion-centric than ever. After Haseena goes, their semblance of political balance and friendliness will go for a toss. Expect Islamists to come to power and turn it into another pendulum state between China and USA.

Once that happens I want India to grab & annex Chittigong and the northern part of Bangladesh if they tried to start shit with India.
